PERTH RUNNING FESTIVAL ELITE FIELDS ARE IN 👀🔥

This Sunday, some serious talent takes to the streets of Perth before finishing inside Optus Stadium — and there are plenty of storylines worth following.

🌍 International firepower in the Marathon
Kenya’s Dominic Ngeno headlines the men’s field with a 2:06:37 PB, alongside Japan’s Ryoma Takeuchi (2:08:20), who finished 4th at Gold Coast earlier this year.

On the women’s side, Antonina Kwambai brings a 2:23:20 PB and arrives fresh from finishing 2nd at the 2026 Gold Coast Marathon.

🏆 WA titles up for grabs
The Marathon also doubles as the 2026 WA State Marathon Championship. Matt Smith, 2nd at PRF last year, leads the local men’s charge, while four-time Perth Marathon champion Nera Jareb is one to watch in the women’s race.

⚡ Ramsden returns
Matt Ramsden is back on the course where he ran the 64:11 Half Marathon course record in 2023 — this time arriving after wins at both the 2026 Perth City to Surf and Adelaide City-Bay 12km. Can that record go again? 👀

🔥 And keep an eye on the 10K…
Last year’s runner-up Max Shervington returns, while our very own Dean Menzies drops down to the 10K carrying a 2:17:41 marathon PB, Australian Masters M35 record and an Australian Marathon Championships silver medal.

After chatting with Elite Athlete Coordinator Sam Maxwell on this week’s podcast, we’ve got a bit more insight into the athletes, the recruitment behind the field and some of the storylines that could make Sunday interesting.
