Fanging around an empty quarry with all the kit, chasing some two wheeled weapons. Hell of a day at the office. #setupvstheshot

Get to know the faces behind the camera in our spotlight series, with director Dan ‘Maxy’ Max.

Maxy is the definition of a modern-day explorer - part farm boy, part filmmaker, all heart. He’s as comfortable behind the lens as he is sleeping living out of his van in a remote location, chasing real stories in real places.

With a background in photography, Maxy has a knack for finding beauty in the rough edges and truth in the small moments. He’s down-to-earth, collaborative and never afraid to get his hands dirty to bring an idea to life. Check out what makes Maxy tick in the latest Reel Good Yarns. Full vid in previous post!

I’ve been traveling back and forth to this beautiful country for decades, and for the last 15 years on assignment.
It holds a piece of me after every visit.
Just as I hold a piece of it.
My soul has come to find peace here, a home away from home.
It is the mana in the people, the land, the customs and traditions of the open-hearted warriors that are the Māori people, and the Pākehā whom choose to honour the whenua, the moana with reverence and care, and love one another like whānau.

Unity — that’s where healing begins and ends its necessity. Within, then without.
For all of us.
BIG LOVE.
