May Be Fern | Denver PorchFest 2026

For one afternoon, the porches, lawns and streets of Denver’s historic Baker neighborhood became stages.

And May Be Fern brought everything they had to theirs.

Playing against a backdrop of century old Victorian homes, the band delivered the kind of set that makes you forget there’s no stage at all—great musicianship, infectious energy and a stage (or in this case, lawn) presence that pulled the crowd right into the performance.

And this was a crowd that came ready for them.

Fans packed the lawn and sidewalk, surrounding the band just a few feet away as guitars, bass, keys and drums spilled out into the neighborhood. That intimacy, the absence of barricades, photo pits and distance between artist and audience is part of what made Denver’s first PorchFest feel so special.

This is exactly the kind of music culture BeyondStageLights exists to document: not simply the performance, but the people, places and moments surrounding it.

I’m proud to have played a small part in documenting the inaugural Denver PorchFest and the enormous amount of work that went into transforming an entire neighborhood into a music festival for a day.

Special thanks to Bradley Schwartz, whose vision and countless hours helped bring this ambitious event to life and to all of the volunteers, homeowners, artists and others behind the scenes who made it happen.

And to @may_be_fern thanks for giving that Baker neighborhood lawn one hell of a soundtrack.
