Maya did 2 FULL PULL-UPS. 🔥

This didn’t happen overnight.

Maya has been working on this for months.

We used different methods to slowly build her strength up:

• Dead hangs
• Slow negative pull-ups
• Pauses at the top and negatives down
• Small-band assisted pull-ups
• Controlled reps with 2 seconds at the top, 2 seconds halfway, then 4 seconds lowering down

Rep by rep, week by week, she got stronger. She was and she is committed!

And today she hit her first TWO full pull-ups. 💪

At her age that is an incredible achievement!

Not many people can perform a proper pull-up, and Maya is now part of a relatively small group of women who can.

But this isn’t the finish line.

This is just the beginning.

Next target: 5 full pull-ups.

And with the work she’s already putting in, I don’t think it’ll take us long. 😎🔥

This is what I love about strength training.

You don’t need to be 20.

You don’t need to already be “fit.”

You need the right progression, consistency, and enough time for your body to get stronger.

If you’d love to get stronger, achieve your first pull-up, or see what your body is still capable of…

DM me “PRIME” and let’s get to work.

Most people think progress looks like perfection.

It doesn’t.

Maya and I have been working toward her first pull-up for weeks. We’ve been building strength with negatives, improving her confidence under the bar, and trusting the process.

Today, she stepped off the bench and pulled herself all the way up.
T
hen she went for another rep.

She got stuck halfway.

And we celebrated anyway.

Because progress isn’t about making every rep. It’s about showing up, trying again, and getting a little stronger each week.

I’m so proud of the work she’s putting in and the determination she brings to every session.

This is what progress looks like. 💪

Most people think pull-ups are only for young athletes.

They’re not.

Maya is 51 years old and working towards her first pull-up.

We didn’t rush the process.
We built it step by step:
grip strength,
hangs,
isometrics,
controlled eccentrics,
and now 2-second holds with 4-second lowering phases.

That’s how real strength is built after 40.

Not with shortcuts.
With consistency and progression.

Your body can still adapt.
You can still get stronger.
And it’s never too late to start.

Well done, Maya 👏

…the mighty pulses!… for a chic dish of gigantic proportions!… giant beans are as great as their size, especially when cooked in a Greek manner stew!… without the customary tomato sauce they become more light and refined, ready to be enjoyed with a glorious assortment of seafood bites!…

…so wintery and cozy, with a rich texture and an amazing smooth and comforting taste, this blend of beans and vegetables is a common weekly favourite in our household since grandma’s times!… duly served in her chic dishes for a traditional stroke and some much needed nostalgia!…

Here is the classic recipe: 👩🏻‍🍳👩🏻‍🍳👩🏻‍🍳

-Soak overnight 3 cups of giant beans! They will soften, expand and multiply in size!
-Start boiling them, changing the water once, as the first will be frothy and muddy!
-Continue boiling for at least an hour on medium heat or until the beans are soft and tender!
-Lower the heat to slow simmering point and add salt, vegetable powder stock, a tablespoon of butter and the sliced carrots! Simmer for about 10 minutes and add the sliced celery, juice of half a lemon and a dash of olive oil!
-Simmer for another 10 minutes and lastly turn the heat up, add half a cup of water where you diluted two tablespoons of flour and stir rapidly, so it thickens the liquid of the stew!

To serve, drizzle with more olive oil and lemon and perhaps some salt if you like! Make sure to accompany this with bread and any seafood nibbles of your preference, perhaps canned tuna or any kind of fish!…

…building construction site!… let’s build a layered chic dish with Cyprus roots, literally and metaphorically!… a tower of some explosive favourites combined into one busy meal, honouring the old school Cypriot home cooks!… 🇨🇾🇨🇾🇨🇾

…my improvisation skills (or frenzy) took the whole idea to the next level!… because cooking is all about improvisation, invention, innovation, inspiration, experimenting, daring to mix and match and finally succeed!… who says there are rules and default recipes in the culinary world?… even those started from somewhere, right?… 🤷🏻‍♀️♥️👌🏻

…”Kolokasi me koupepia” is a classic Cypriot one pot meal, combining the usual taro root stew with a layer of stuffed vine leaves on top, simmered gently until they become a soft blend of mellowness and richness!… 🍅🥫🥖

…my version is replacing the stuffed vine leaves with stuffed Swiss chard leaves, which are more bitter and bigger, plus drizzled with a silky avgolemono sauce which matches perfectly with every other part of the dish and drips and blends beautifully into the rich tomato sauce!…🥚🍋🥄

Scroll down my page for the Kolokasi, the stuffed Swiss chard leaves and the avgolemono sause and create your own combination!… 🌟⚡️

Maya Mesimeris' AMAZING baked chicken and fennel recipe. This scrumptious, earthy, winter warming, melt in your mouth dish has just become one of my favourites.

My presentation and photos don't do it justice (check out @maya_mesimeris
page for how it's really done)

The chicken was marinated overnight with toasted fennel and coriander seed, salt, pepper and olive oil.

Today I fried off some fennel root (quartered), onions + garlic added (Greek) saffron threads and added the saffron water I steeped them in for 30 mins, a few sprigs of fresh thyme, bay leaves, chilli flakes and (my own addition) dried orange peel. I then added a can of @muttipomodoroau cherry tomatoes as per Maya's recommended canned tomatoes (Mutti never disappoints).

Baked in the oven for a couple of hours and the result is LOUKOUMI (melt in your mouth). And the pan juices were OMG.

Thank you for sharing this recipe with me Maya mou. 🙏🏼❤️

(The second slide is my dad telling me to put white pepper on the chicken. It's always white pepper or something spicy for him).

Please check out @maya_mesimeris
page for amazing Lebanese, Greek, and everything else delicious recipes.

Meet the amazing @maya_mesimeris ❤️🤗

Results:
✅ Reduced Anterior Scapula Tilt (1️⃣)
✅ Increase in Rotator Cuff ROM (2️⃣)
✅ No Pain overhead movements

Single Arm (left/right) Isometric Testing:
✅ Lats variance from 30% to 4.6%.
✅ Traps variance 15% to 10%

Maya and I have been working together for 3 months (1) restoring scapula rhythm, (2) resolve scapula neutral posterior / retraction position, and (3) improving rotator cuff strength.

Anterior tilting of Maya’s scapula (1️⃣) narrowed the subacromial space for Rotator Cuff Tendons causing a tendinopathy, reduced ROM (2️⃣), and pain with overhead movements.
