A few years ago I attended the wedding of some friends in Poland where I learned that Polish wedding receptions open with a presentation of bread and salt.

Upon the newlyweds’ arrival at the reception, their parents present them with these essentials and this gift is both traditional and symbolic.

Bread is offered so that the couple may never know hunger, while salt is there to remind them of life’s difficulties and the importance of learning to cope. It is also believed that salt has the power to heal, cleanse and protect.

At the time, I remember being struck by how much this resonated with me and it is apt to describe the themes explored in my recent interview with the incredible @mayabilalis.

For anyone interested in learning a bit more about my backstory, access the link in the bio for the full podcast recording available on my website. You will find it in under ‘MEDIA’ where you can also sign up for free site membership to enjoy unlimited access to the resources vault!
