"Cowards die many times before their deaths; the Valiant never taste of death but once."

To the Reader,

Over the past 5-6 months, I have been blessed with the privilege and honor of bringing some of William Shakespeare's pieces to life. Between a wonderful summer at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival @illinoisshakes and the time I've spent on this production, I have felt nothing but love for the work of the Bard. However, one thing has become apparent when I think about my time and experience with this show.

And that is the flow of time.

I have had love and care for this character and topic for a long time. In 5th grade, we did a wax museum project in which I dressed the part of Gaius Julius Caesar and gave a 60-second, in-character speech about his life. In retrospect, the videos and photos of it are quite comical, but also touching. To think that 10- to 11-year-old Andrew would be able to come back, years later, to delve into the very project that further immortalized the man in the public zeitgeist is still mind-boggling to me. I wonder if some part of him, then, at that moment, had any idea what he'd be able to do years later.

I want to thank everyone in the cast and crew for a wonderful experience and for their support throughout the process. I would like to thank family, friends, and audience members for trusting us with your valuable time. Thank you for coming to see live, HUMAN art and for supporting the very art that continues to be in jeopardy every day. I am eternally grateful to all.

With love,
Andrew

Julius Caeser 2026
I am incredibly grateful to close out this amazing show with such wonderful people. It is an honor to preform today and I take that with honor with my whole life. This show has taught me so many things about myself as a performer and who I am as a person. I’m so glad I got to portray the Soothsayer, poet, and messenger in my first Shakespeare show! This has been a ride well had! Thank you everyone for making this possible!
