Firstly, I want to apologize for the delay in sharing this announcement. It’s taken longer than I expected, but I’m excited to finally let you know that I’m running for the title of Miss Indian World. I know it’s late, but over the past year, I’ve faced many personal challenges. One of the hardest experiences was nearly being kidnapped while attending AHIEC, which deeply impacted my mental health. As a result, I couldn’t attend many cultural events last year, but a healing trip to Nebraska with my niece helped me reconnect, especially around the five-year anniversary of my mom’s passing.
Studying at IAIA has also made me feel disconnected from my people, but I draw strength from my father and older sister. The trauma I carry has been passed down from my grandparents’ boarding school experiences, from my Pueblo Laguna side to my Otoe-Missouria people. I also honor my mixed heritage—Kiowa, Pueblo Laguna, Ponca, Santee Sioux, Shoshone-Bannock, Iowa, and Omaha, as well as my colonized roots from Spanish, English, French, German, and Italian blood.
If I am chosen as Miss Indian World, I will carry that title with the responsibility of representing all our nations. I aim to uplift the youth, support young adults, and honor our elders. But I also want to be clear: If my victory doesn’t lead to real advocacy, I would consider rejecting the crown. In a time when leadership seeks to undermine our people, we must continue to fight, and my fight is through creative fields. I’m here, and I will be loud and unapologetic in telling our stories.

During my all too brief time in Santa Fe I painted a 17’ X 35’ mural with this crew. Enjoy this process video. There’ll be two more videos COMING SOON!. I never know what music to select. I do know this crew was the most fun and had fun and I still miss them. I’ll try to tag you all. Everybody up. Don’t stay down. THANK YOU to everyone that helped paint, clean, buff, or roll paint in big or small ways. This wasn’t an easy wall to paint and it took about 5-6 days. Move on up now fam to that higher realm now. You’re where you’re meant to be. Thank you @iaiarccna and @allcitypaint

This first group shot was
taken by @ndoivigil .
It was Saturday and we all
worked on the mural, painting ,
sweating and collaborating.
I took a few behind the scenes shots.
I need to show these before we show
shots from our film shoot today..
This crew is amazing.
.
I’m going to miss you all.

@mayada_nayimi kicking things off with the @beyondbuckskin collab earrings…

Having my school mates do their own photography has been awesome, very little editing on my end and they did such an amazing job, so proud of them.
