Recently, I started doing private Japanese language tutoring and it has been such an amazing experience!☺️ For me, the most valuable lessons I received in my language learning journey were not from a textbook or a class, but the moments I was able to sit down one-on-one with somebody who had a lot more reading experience than myself and simply read a text together. We'd never rush, but really take in and analyze each sentence, picking apart the grammar, the sentence structure, and the nuances of the kanji. This is the kind of experience I try to reproduce during my own tutoring sessions. Here are a few of the books I'm currently reading with the wonderful people tagged in the picture. Each person has their own motivations for reading a specific text and it is wonderful to see how everybody grows exponentially in their reading ability and confidence each session. These sessions are really a big experiment, where you are allowed to make mistakes and nerd out🤓 In the end, the combination of deep curiosity and the freedom to fail and get back up again are the best recipe for an effective and fulfilling learning experience, especially when studying a difficult language like Japanese. There is currently a waiting list for these sessions, but feel free to get in touch with me if you are interested📧💡 #studygram #languagelearning #japaneseliterature #japaneselanguage #kanjistudy #languagetutor #勉強垢 #日本語学習 #日本文学 #近代文学 #漢字 #漢字勉強

These are not yearbook photos. Wait! Now that I think of it, maybe they are! 🎉⠀ ⠀⠀ This is the inner sleeve of @SethGodin's new book #ThePractice. It is filled with photos of participants in his first #TheCreativesWorkshop earlier this year. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The Practice is based on that workshop. It was a game-changing experience that has played out mostly behind the scenes. Until now.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Seth joins me on @freeyourinnerguru today to talk about the practice of picking yourself. As I say in the intro, I felt like I was in a master class for making #change, #creativity, #learning, #empathy and #leadership - all things that make human beings and humanity - better.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ See anyone you recognize in the yearbook? I can't wait to see what they create to make the world a better place for all of us.⠀ ⠀ 🎧 Link in bio to listen to Episode 76 - #SethGodin: The Practice of Picking Yourself

#tbt to my trip to Oxford, UK last September! I took this picture in front of the Eagle and Child, the pub where C. S. Lewis and Tolkien used to hang out. Both authors have been so inspirational to me and such a huge influence on my writing, it was an honor to visit their old haunting grounds! #narnia #lordoftherings
