Hiking a mile on a frozen river in Alaska at -20F ❄️

When I went to Alaska a couple years ago we got to see a really cool ice cave, but what we didn’t realize is that we had to hike a mile in -20F to get there, over a frozen river. It was an experience I will never forget and it’s probably the coldest I’ve ever been, but it was incredible.

The camera I used was a Lumix S5 with the kit lens, the cameras work fine in -20F but the batteries and LCD screen do not. You have to keep the batteries warm for them to last long and the LCD screen will start to freeze making your footage look slow motion. However, the footage turns out fine and I’m surprised how well my camera equipment performed under these conditions.
