Three and a half years ago I came to UNA not knowing anyone here, or really anything about this town itself. If you would have taken freshmen Shelby, sat her down, and told her about all of the challenges she would face, amazing memories she would make, and the lifetime best friends she would find, she would have laughed in your face and probably go back home… but God! God knew all along how this path would break me down next to nothing to make some beautiful change that is still happening. I am forever grateful to this University for providing me the space to find my people and step out in faith. I will miss going into the nursing building even though there were times when I never wanted to go back again, but hard things make you grateful in the end. This program has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. I am so thankful for professors who push me, and also took the time to grow real relationships. I will miss many of you who let me come into your office to unload whatever I needed. Leaving my friends is one of the hardest parts of this journey. I will miss our late night car rides, heads out of the sunroof, and all of the fun adventures we created. No one tells you how hard it will be to leave your college roommate who’s your best friend and who got through nursing school with you. Maylee, you are a gift from God and it wouldn’t have been the same without you! I’m thankful to have had all of the experiences I did, and to have another place that feels like home.

This semester has been one of change, from finally moving out of the dorms to seeing friends graduate and being so close to graduation myself. While at times it has felt like the longest semester, Im grateful for everything I've learned through it all and can't wait to see what this last semester has in store for me.
