Also on this day, Mike pulled off a massive gamble, debuting World's On Fire from Post Traumatic at a show in New York, where his drummer Dan would play a drum solo after the 2nd chorus, before Mike played a variant of the Robot Boy synth solo during the rest of the bridge.

The song is a token of appreciation to his wife Anna, for being supportive of his ventures over his multidecade long career!

💻 When there is no access to pedals, plugins are also a great option to experiment with effects...

But Safari Pedals are beyond that. A collection of truly unique and great sounding plugins, that look like pedals. There are everyday studio tools in their package as well like compressors amps, and a channel strip.

I plugged my Tomasi MicroCork straight into the interface, and didnt use any external effects.

it was not difficult to find inspiring sounds and combinations, so thank you for sending me these plugins! I will keep having fun with them!

🎁gifted collab

🎵 Mike Shinoda
🗓️ September 8, 2018
🇮🇹 Area EXPO - Open Air Theatre, Milan, Italy
🎫 Milano Rocks

That time when I played with Mike Shinoda... 😵‍💫😱🥹😭❤️

A year after Chester's passing, everything about this show and the whole Post Traumatic era was different: intimate, emotional, cathartic ❤️‍🩹

During the Meet & Greet, I reminded Mike of when I asked to play "Faint" with Linkin Park, and so I tried again, this time with "Roads Untraveled" 🎸

We talked about which guitar part I would play, the tuning (could you believe he didn't remember the right tuning?!), and more. Eventually, Mike smiled and said: "Okay, I guess you can do it!" 😭

Backstage, Mike, the band, and the crew were doing their usual pre-show hug circle, and I stayed away because I thought I didn't belong there. But Linkin Park's longtime tour manager Jim Digby saw me and invited me to join them. I was listening to them talking about family, gratitude, the tour, and they even asked me to share something with all of them. It was one of the most intimate and beautiful moments I've ever experienced 🥺

I got the guitar and had barely five minutes to "rehearse" in my mind while Mike was performing "When They Come For Me". Then he introduced me and invited me on stage.

Suddenly, I was standing in front of 20,000 people, despite literally never having performed live anywhere before. Mike and Matt's reactions when they realized I actually knew the song were incredible. The sound exploding in my ears, the crowd screaming my name, playing a Linkin Park song with my idol, Mike Shinoda... Wow 😵‍💫💥

Two years later, on June 26, 2020, I got to relive that moment with Mike during one of his Twitch streams. I redeemed a chance (ShinodaBucks anyone!?) to ask him for a drawing, and he drew me and him on stage that night 🥹

Thank you, Mike, and the whole LP/MS family, for being so kind and for making my dream come true. I'm so grateful and I will never forget it 🎸🥹❤️

Things are getting a bit weird in our storytime post this week, as we proceed to the next treat - APDLT008: Markey Funk "Witch Doctor/The Brew"

This record happened almost by accident: in late April 2016, as part of his annual DJ tour, Markey Funk was playing at Kita Koguta bar in Warsaw again, alongside his friends Papa Zura (@soulservicedjteam) and @senhor_efebo. He was told that for Kita's birthday next year, they're working on a compilation LP featuring tracks from its frequent guests. Without hesitation, he agreed to contribute a tune. The only problem was that he didn't have anything in the works at the time.

The idea came 2 months later from the least expected place - the back of The Apples' tour van. While on the road, one of the bandmates, Gal Dahan, was playing a phone recording of himself and Dan Mayo (CRuNCH 22/Tatran) fooling around in the studio. Markey suggested that Dan's funky beat is so good he could imagine developing it into a full tune. It's just that the one-mic drum recording came with Gal's howls and moans all across it. Markey saw this as an opportunity to do his take on the wild world of European psychsploitation 45s. He even had a title for it - "Witch Doctor" - and started working as soon as he was back home.

A few weeks later, when the new tune was almost ready, Markey crafted an even more unhinged version of it by stripping away all melodic parts and placing the tight drum beat (with all the howls) at the centre of mind-melting sonic chaos. Some might call it "dub" or "bonus beat". To Markey, it was just another way of celebrating this brilliant accidental drum break with a weird twist. "Witch Doctor" and "The Brew" would become Delights' new aesthetic manifesto.

The Kita Koguta compilation was released on March 27, 2017 - 4 days before MNP's debut 7'' was announced. APDLT008: Witch Doctor/The Brew came out five months later - on September 22nd. No one was expecting another Delights release to drop within a few weeks. But Halloween was coming, and we had plans... 😉

P.S. Swipe for the original drums+screams recording that this release started from, plus a video from the first live performance of "Witch Doctor" in November 2016.
