We hosted The Prelude: Holding Hands dinner on the eve of our festival. Broccoli City x Amazon Music brought together the most impactful leaders in the Nation’s Capital from all touch points. This night was intended to honor the people that continue to push the culture forward and the energy in the room affirmed we accomplished that.

I’ve been creative directing for Broccoli City for nearly 7 years now and the relationships we’ve built along the way have been the best part of this role. I’m so happy for everyone who shared a hug or warm smile with me last night. I’ll be smiling ear to ear from tonight into the festival weekend.

On June 26, I had the opportunity to present a framed edition of my Three Frequencies of Harriet artwork produced through my collaboration with @framebridge to @finngroup .

During that visit, I also shared pieces from my recent Amazon Music collaboration for AFRAM 50th last month

Seeing Three Frequencies of Harriet now hanging in the office at Pier Six Pavilion makes the moment even more meaningful. The artwork has found a new home inside a space that will continue to bring major cultural experiences to Baltimore.

A few weeks later, it was powerful to witness the success of Ms. Lauryn Hill’s performance at Pier Six Pavilion on Sunday and the energy that evening brought to the city.

Congratulations to @finngroup @piersixpavilion on an incredible show and on continuing to create space for meaningful experiences in Baltimore.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much of our lives we’ve entrusted to phones, passwords, cloud storage, and social media apps.

We spend so much time curating a post, but how often are we preserving the moments behind it?

Think about it.

📣 Hey Philly Chapter! 📣

You know we can’t let June end without highlighting Black Music Month! In fact, They Have The Range and The Black Music Collective helped kick off Black Music Month in Philadelphia as we also closed out Philly Music Month during one of the city’s biggest music weekends of the year - The Roots Picnic!

Enormous gratitude to Philly Chapter Member Branford Jones for inviting the Academy to join in presenting this brunch to honor and celebrate amazing Black creators and music industry professionals!

Many thanks to Philadelphia Music Alliance, The Original Music City, and CA Board for helping ensure that it was a fabulous gathering filled with fantastic food and fellowship! A special shout-out to our own former Philadelphia Chapter President, Dyana Williams, who co-founded Black Music Month. Her vision and legacy continue to create space for celebrations like this, and we appreciate her showing up and continuing to support our community.

We also want to celebrate our Black Music Collective National Co-Chair Torae for joining us for this spectacular event.

They Have Brunch brought together great food, great people, and a live performance from the incredible Inayah to close out the afternoon. Ocho Supper Club and Michelin-starred Executive Chef RJ Smith made sure the elevated cuisine matched the energy and experience in the room!

Thank you to ALL who joined us for such a great fête! A time was HAAAAAD!

🎤✨ What an incredible weekend at the Douglass Lounge Presented by Amazon Music during AFRAM 50! ✨🎤

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped us celebrate music, culture, and community. It was an honor for me and EJ Warwick to provide the soundtrack for the weekend—spinning the jams, hosting karaoke, and creating unforgettable moments with so many amazing guests.

The Douglass Lounge paid tribute to the historic Douglass Theatre, a legendary venue on Pennsylvania Avenue that showcased some of the greatest Black entertainers of the early 20th century. To be part of an activation that honored such an important piece of Baltimore’s cultural history was truly special.
