2026 Climbing Goals / Push through Pain (19)
*Today's Highlights

Today we had the opportunity to have some fun and put in quality work on some of our project routes, even though we did not feel the strongest or the most rested, but the key point is that we showed up and gave it our best efforts, which helps to keep our climbing goals moving in the right direction because every training session we do does not have to be our best or strongest sessions, we make do with what we are able to do at the time. The effort on this orange 5.11c today was not my best after having sent it clean last week, but I want to do a better job at cleaning up the upper section a little bit, so I dont waste energy through it. I was able to figure out a better beta that I can use the next time I give it a quality go. I appreciate having days like this because it helps me work the routes slower and in a fatigued state. Have you reached some of your climbing goals for 2026 recently? Which routes are you currently working on indoors at your gym or outdoors?

2026 (Endurance): One of my many climbing goals for this year is not only being able to climb a 5.12a clean, but to be able to stay on the wall for as long as possible, which is why being tired, fatigued, and not feeling the best makes for some great endurance training and training overall because it allows you to work through movements with a different mindset and feeling then you would on the days you feel fresh, rested, and focused. It allows you to figure out the best way to climb slower and more proficiently then trying to race up the routes when you feel strong. Endurance training is the best way to get the most out of a training session without going all out on your hard projects. This year I want to be able to not only stay on the wall longer, but I want to be able to find rests on none buggy or good holds because as I move up to harder and more technical routes, being able to find rests is a must. What are your goals for the remainder of this year? What ways have you found where you able to stay on the wall longer?

2026 Climbing Goals / Getting Stronger (18)

Over the past two days I have felt myself getting stronger, more technically sound, and just improving my overall climbing in ways that brings a tear to my eye knowing that I have put in the work and trained to get back to where I was before I took my long break from climbing, the climbing community, and the climbing gym as my happy place. I am quickly making real progress towards building up to being able to confidently climb 5.11ds and 5.12as, which I would have never thought was possible because I was comfortable with the routes and grades I was climbing on up to 5.11bs and some 5.11cs. I have been able to get back here quickly with the encouragement, care, support, and advice from my climbing friends, who continue to push in ways I could not do for myself. This green 5.11d and the green 5.12a that I have been working hard on is proof of this fact and I look forward to seeing where my climbing is at by the end of 2026. Where is your climbing currently at this year? Where do you want your climbing to be this year?

2026 (Push Your Limits): This year one of my important climbing goals to do my best to move past my comfort zone, which can be in the form of easier climbs, climbs that have the holds and movements that suit you, climbs that interest you, and most of all the climbs you are comfortable with, but for me this year I want to improve and grow to the point that I can move up a grade or two in my climbing on holds that I do not really enjoy and in a way that I am not used to because this is how I can become a better climber than I was before and just show myself if I put in the work I can make these things happen. I am pleased and happy with my progress towards this goal, but I still have a way to go to reach the end goal. What goals have you set for yourself this year? What does this year mean to you?

Climbing has always been one of my ways to refocus, destress, relax, feel what I feel, and be myself, which was lost at a time, but I am finding myself and being able to find the joy and love I had for the sport, the friends I have in climbing, and the community as a whole who continues to keep me going.

2026 Climbing Goals / Cave Leading Progress (11)

This past Thursday I had wonderful opportunity to work out the moves, clipping positions, and getting more comfortable and confident with climbing routes in the cave, which is different than climbing routes of the same grade on a vertical wall. This challenging orange 5.11b route in the cave at @boulderdashclimbing is the route that I am willing to put the time, training, and energy into because I know when I get my mental state for lead climbing back, I will be able to do this route cleanly and without any issues. I appreciate having the opportunity to look back and see where I can improve, what aspects of cave climbing I can get better at, how to find rests while hanging upside down, and learning from others who have already completed this climb the way they have. Have you attempted or sent this route before? Which route at this gym are you currently working on?

2026 (Improving): This year I want to improve my climbing in the areas of it that I am struggling with, inefficient with, or just do not have the proper climbing technique for the style of climbing i am planning to do, which includes crack climbing, cave lead climbing, and ice climbing. Each of these styles I have had some practice with in the past, but this year I want to learn the proper techniques, the proper places to find rest, being more efficient, and most of all become a more well rounded climber in the gym and outside. Each of these styles I am planning to train hard on them, researching various books to help me hone these skills, and just continue to practice them until they become second nature. What climbing style would you like to improve this year? Have you lead climbed in a cave at the gym or outdoors?

Thank you to my friends for the belays, for the encouragement, for the laughs, and most of all helping me quickly get back to my old self, the way that makes me happy. Its been a real journey that I have thoroughly enjoyed going through with you.

2026 Weekend Crag Reflection / Black Wall (5)

I do hope you all find time this upcoming weekend to step away from the hustle and bustle of your every lives and do things you never had time for, explore places you have always wanted to get put to, make lasting memories with friends and family, learn something new about yourself and the world around you, and maybe catch up on the rest you missed during the week. The weekends we get this year should be filled with things that make us happy, relaxed, and focused more than while we are at work or in school. Each weekend get the opportunity to have needs to be enjoyed rather than spent stressing about deadlines, assignments, or what you will be missing while you are away from it all. What does the weekend mean to you? What are your weekend plans for this year going forward? What is your favorite weekend memory?

2026: This year I have really spent alot of time reflecting on previous outdoor adventures, previous climbing trips, and previous climbing milestones that were reached together with my friends who were also reaching milestones too. The reasons behind the reflecting on these times is because now with my career and school obligations, moments and times like these are becoming less and less, which this year I want to change that, so I have new weekend memories, moments, and experiences to look back on and be proud of the journey I have been on and what I have learned in the process along this journey. This was from previous weekend trips to Black Wall in the Sespe Wilderness of Ojai and this is where I did some of my first outdoor lead, traditional, and multipitch climbs close to home. Have you been to Black Wall before? Which routes are your favorites?

I want to make sure that the reflecting and remembering I have been doing this year translates to taking the steps I need to make more weekend trips like these happen more often than they have been lately.

2026 Climbing Goals / Challenge Myself (6)

Today we had the pleasure to put in some real work in on some of my gym climbing projects that I have been making significant progression and improvements on and being able to figure out the best beta and sequences that work for me and my climbing style, which was definitely on full display with the hard work and progress I have been able to get with the very challenging and pumpy red 5.11c at @boulderdashclimbing. This route has been giving me so many issues, but it is rewarding to see and feel the hard work and training paying off for me and the friends I have been able to climb with over the past couple of weeks. I continue to fall more deeply in love with the sport of climbing, the climbing community as a whole, the friends I have made along my long climbing journey, and the experiences and memories I have been able to make with them. I was also able to make some progress on the newer tan 5.11b/c, which was very fun and interesting all the way to the anchors. Which gym climbing routes are you working on? What are your climbing goals for this year?

2026: My climbing goals and dreams for this year is to put in the work towards being able to confidently climb a 5.12a route either in the climbing gym or outdoors because I know I am more than capable of doing that and I need to challenge myself this way to make sure I can reach this goal by the end of the year. I am keeping myself accountable with this goal, so this way I can be mentored, advised, encouraged, and supported with it by both my friends and family to help me reach this goal. I really do appreciate you all for helping me build myself back up both as a climber and as a person this year and I will make sure to make you proud of me more than you already are.

2026 Climbing Goals / Rebuild and Improve (1)

Tonight I was able to make real progress on a few challenging, technical, and pumpy 5.11s mainly on top rope, which for me after what I went through last year is definitely a step in the right direction towards getting back on track with my training, preparing, and improving my climbing as much as I can this year. The progress I have been able to make on these routes makes me happy because it feels good to feel myself getting stronger, but just being able to get back to a sport and community that I love so much and missed during my time away. The things that climbing and the climbing community have done to help get through some of the darkest times in my life and I am thankful to have it and them in my life the way they have been. What has climbing done for you? What is your favorite climbing memory?

For me climbing at the gym or outdoors is one of my therapies and my escapes to help work through any issues I have had or am currently having. There is something special about the sport of climbing that allows me to focus mainly on the holds, the hand and foot placements, the clipping positions, the route itself, and where the good rests are rather any pains, stresses, fears, anger, or sadness that I have outside of it, which is why I love it and my friends I have made through the sports. My climbing journey this year will allow me to grow, improve, and branch out to new areas that I have never been to before. It will also allow me to improve my traditional, lead, and crack climbing while experiencing these new places and routes. How did you get into climbing in the first place? Who was your climbing mentor or mentors that helped you get to where you are at now?

Thank you so much to @mckelvyian for the delays, the advice, the beta, and for being a great friend. I appreciate it and together we will do some amazing climbs together.

2026 Weekend Crag Reflect / Echo Cliffs (1)

I hope you are all getting ready and prepared for this upcoming weekend because with all the hard work, dedication to school and work, and family obligations you all deserve ti take time away from your daily lives for a little while and do something you enjoy, visit a place that allows you to refocus your energy into something that brings you real happiness, spending time with others you enjoy doing these things with, and catching up on some much needed rest when during the week you could not. The weekend gives you plenty of opportunities to do these things and so much more without worrying or stressing about the things you have to deal with at work or school. I hope each weekend you receive you get the chance to do the things you would like to with those you want to do it with. What does the weekend mean to you this year? What are your plans for this weekend coming up?

One of the things we used to do over the weekend a few years back was to climb or hike at either a new place or a place we have been to plenty of times before, where we all had the time off to do some. This is something I would like to get back to doing more regularly when the time permits to get back out to different crags that are close to me, to reflect on all the memories, laughs, sends, falls, bonding times, and spending time in nature away from all the stresses and fears that come with our daily lives. One of these places is Echo Cliffs in the Santa Monica Mountains that used to be our go to weekend place to climb, hike, and explore as much as we could in a day, mainly the morning into the mid afternoon. This place has so many long, challenging, and technical climbs that will allow you to train your strength, endurance, and overall climbing with a beautiful set of views and scenery. Have you climbed at Echo Cliffs before? What was your route of choice here?

Thank you so much to all the strong, technical, and amazing climbers who have climbed here before us and those who climb here for the first time after us. You have all inspired me so much with what you do and it helps me to train and work as hard as I can to improve as climber and person.

2026 Possible New Trails / Namaste Wall (4)
Utah

Happy Winter Trail Thursday to all of you who have been thinking about hiking new trails, climbing on routes and rock formations you have never been on before, exploring new states you have only passed through, and even starting a fresh journey somewhere, whatever you decide to do it is important to follow your dreams, chase your goals, or follow your heart and try not to worry how big or small they may seem at first. Each new trail, adventure, and journey will start off feeling scary, daunting, or filled with unknown, but when you put one foot in front of the other with a strong support system of friends and family, you will find out that these new trails and journeys are not as bad or scary as you previously thought they would be. Then when you are ready to do them on your own, you will be able to without looking back. Which new journeys or trails are you looking forward to exploring? What new trails have you been on recently?

For this year i have many goals that I want to make sure I am able to achieve because there are many places I still have yet to hike at, climb on, camp at, and explore more that I would like to. One of these places is in @zionnps which is filled with many beautiful rock features and formations, hard, overhanging, and challenging climbing routes, long and worth while hikes that lead to beautiful things that would have never been seen if I do not take those firsr steps towards them. Namaste Wall is one of the climbing areas here that has some of the most appealing climbing routes and views than anywhere else. This place I know will start off as a new place and trail, but after some time it will turn into a regular place for me to visit. Which climb is your favorite here? Which routes or hikes would you recommend?

📷 @dankrauss @bacherfabian @ellasends and @jimlawyer, thank you all so much for the encouragement, inspiration, and real life experiences that you had in Zion. I really cannot wait to make my own memories, experiences, and moments while I am here for the first time. I appreciate you all so much and what you all do. Keep inspiring others as you have done for me.
