It’s been 79 days since I held Icky for the last time. It’s still so raw. How could 3 months have gone by? I’m really deep in the trenches emotionally, I think the arthritis flare and *still* not having access to my medication isn’t helping.

It’s painful to use my hands but I did shaky render of him today. I cried the whole about the unfairness of it all. I think it helped. The rest are other art I’ve made of him over the years.

Last night at Queerfest was absolutely incredible! We did incredibly well and sold a LOT of art. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support, thank you to @upstatequeerart for organizing and @goodartcogvl for hosting!

A lot of people looked at the Biblically Accurate Luna Moth, but nobody purchased (yet.) This is a piece I would be love to sell or trade for a tattoo! Dm me if you’re interested 🐛

Me lately, haven’t posted one of these in a while 🐛✨

My health stuff has been up and down, but the love in my life makes up for it.

Along with raising bugs, making art, and playing tabletop RPGS (because apparently I can’t have enough hobbies) we’ve resurrected the @mbfrecordspod with fresh new episodes! My partner and I have a sizable record collection that we pull a random album every episode to listen through and discuss the album, the vinyl, the critical reception, and how it makes us feel. We’ve covered everything from Dolly Parton to Death Grips, and have about 40 episodes in our backlog so far. Here’s some of my favorite episode covers I’ve made featuring our corgi Icky🐾

This week’s upload covers sludge metal outfit Baroness’s third studio album Yellow & Green! Check out our newest episode at the link in my bio or wherever you listen to music. Swipe to the end for a sneak peek at next week’s episode!

Attended a beautiful wedding this weekend (congrats Brian and Jessica!) that just so happened to have a 12 foot skeleton presiding over the reception.

1000/10 vibes were immaculate (and so was the food!)

Clipping at Eulogy Asheville was incredible! I hadn’t heard of the support artist Cooling Prongs before, they’re an avant garde noise jazz outfit and I was absolutely entranced. I loved Counterfeit Madison on the DCS+ track Night of Heaven, and she actually spent most of the show onstage supporting both acts with jazz piano and ethereal vocals.

I’m tired and achy but grateful for a magnificent night with magical folks✨✨✨

Genuinely one the most transcendent evenings of my life was spent hanging out in a cave and listening to live death metal. It was our first time seeing @pallbearerdoom and second time seeing @bloodincantationofficial .

Absolute Elsewhere from Blood Incantation was one of our top albums of 2024, and honestly it’s a great starting point if you want to dip your toes into the celestial death metal waters. It’s technically two songs that are twenty minutes long, The Stargate and The Message. That album got the two of us through a lot of scary shit last year, if you wanna hear our full review check out the 2024 year end episode we put out back in February on @mbfrecordspod

Check out @thecavernstn link in bio for upcoming shows!

Grateful for a wonderful weekend celebrating the lamp of my life’s birthday! We had a small get together Saturday with the family, Sunday we road-tripped up to Charlotte with his mom to visit her sister, and yesterday we went to Mr K’s and Horizon records 🥰

This saint of a man has gotten us through so much in the last year. From his broken foot to my worsening neurological issues, he’s always steadfast, gentle, and loving in the worst of times. I straight up could not have made it through 2024 and all the nonsense it brought with it without him. Jason is constantly encouraging my personal growth in therapy and art, celebrating even the tiniest progress.

It’s not just me he shows up like this for. He’s there for his friends and family the same way. Nothing was a brighter green flag in our relationship than the way he loves his mom and his sister, and now he’s the best uncle to our toddler nieces. Watching him with them is one of the biggest joys of my life.

I love that he’s a safe place for all the women in our family🥹

It’s still so wild to me that we were born almost exactly six weeks and three hundred fifty miles apart from each other in 1992, only to meet decades later hundreds of miles down the east coast. It’s all so improbable, but here we are. I really do feel like we were meant to find each other.

Happy birthday Jason, here’s to 33💕

Last night’s Blood Incantation show at The Orange Peel was truly a transcendent experience.

Blood Incantation’s slogan is “cosmic music for cosmic people”. Fans of death metal (especially of the spacey and progressive persuasion) do NOT want to miss their latest album Absolute Elsewhere.

If you like Ethel Cain and Chelsea Wolfe definitely check out Midwife!

When I was a kid I was *obsessed* the the Halloweentown Disney Channel Original movies, and one of my silliest childhood dreams was to be an artist in Halloweentown itself. I lowkey got to do just that a couple weeks ago at the @greerfarmersmarket trick or treat event! It was an absolutely magical market with my beloved spouse and my soul sibling @bex.magic as the best booth babes and support system I could ask for🥹

I’m still recuperating after some scary vision loss necessitated another lumbar puncture yesterday, so I won’t be doing much of anything beyond watching scary movies tonight🎃

Don’t forget to leave your leaves to protect our precious native wildlife like luna moths, fireflies, bumblebees and more!
