Crossing the streams* If you don’t have a need for art, maybe you have a need for a logo. Some evidence of the day job I keep mentioning. *That’s a ghostbusters reference for the youngsters out there.

PDK couldn’t wait for the machinations of the US postal service to work its magic. So he drove to get his book. Any other locals feel free to let me know if you prefer personal delivery. #book #artbook #selfpublisher

Ivester Contemporary is having their summer group opening exhibition, “Infinite Scroll,” co-curated by Tiffany K. Smith tomorrow, July 20 from 7-9pm. The exhibit will be on view at the gallery until August 31. The concept of “Infinite Scroll” was inspired by the ubiquitous web design technique where more content automatically and continuously loads as the user scrolls down a page. This feature, while facilitating easy access to endless information, has also led to significant consequences such as doom scrolling, information overload, and a shift in our attention from our surroundings to our screens. The participating artists have responded to this call with thought-provoking work that reflects on topics ranging from our online personas and the way we treat one another to endless calls to action and the consistent flood of information, and comments on the new developments of AI-generated artwork. Some of the artists responded to this call by tackling heavy issues head-on, while others took a less direct route. The participating artists are: Kalee Appleton @kaleeappleton Chris Cascio @chriscascio Jonas Criscoe @jonascriscoe Ryan Thayer Davis @ryanthayerdavis Eli Durst @durzt Kristine Fernandez Josias Figuerido @josiasfigueirido Laurie Frick @lauriefrick Michael Anthony Garcia Candace Hicks @candacehicksart Jamal Hussain @jamalofearth Alie Jackson @aliejackson Aryel René Jackson @aryelrenejacksonstudio Bradley Kerl @bradleykerl Celine Lassus @bimbointech Yuliya Lanina @yuliya.lanina Beili Liu @beililiu Rachel Livedalen @rachellivedalen Dave McClinton @mcclinton_design Katy McCarthy @romancemccarthy Virginia L. The timeless conversation in the design community - especially vital in the BLACK design community - pricing. Terrence and Dave break it down and share insights on pricing, and even do a well-prepared client scenario skit, too. A skit that was definitely well-rehearsed beforehand 😏 Listen NOW via the 🔗 in bio #playcousins #designcommunity #blackexcellence #designerlife #designingwhileblack #blackindesign #designwisdom #negotiation #podcast #marketing #branding #podcastersofinstagram #podcasts #podcastlife #youtube #radio #comedy #applepodcasts #podcastshow #spotifypodcast #interview #entrepreneur #design #graphicdesigner #illustration #

AAGD Agency work! Swag from Princeton's Black Student Alumni event. . That was a fun project. We worked with 6 designers in a logolympics-style approach. We all presented sketches, and our best sketches turned into different concepts that we presented. . Agency rumor is we were on the phone with Craig Robinson, and we didn't realize it. #agencyperks #dothatwork #blackgraphicdesigner #blackgraphicdesigners

The #dayjob — @cherryyberryy, the clients and myself had a chat. Bianca created some sketches based on that chat. We quickly identified the best idea, created the logo and the client was made happy. 😃 It was a smidge more complex than that but not by much. Listening is the best tool we have. That and 25+ years experience. #logodesign #blackonblackbusiness

Thank you all for reaching out to show your support and concern during this difficult time of transition. While I’ll always be a founder of Latinitas nonprofit and magazine, unfortunately, I am no longer employed by the organization. This wasn’t voluntary. The board and I differed on vision and what a dignified exit looked like after 21 years of service. I am leaving Latinitas in tip top shape - its budget cusping $2M this year with a humble start of $0 in a class at UT Austin in 2002, our most expansive and successful program year with reach extending past Texas borders to a global audience and the biggest capacity of our existence - 28+ staff positions + interns. Nothing to wink at as I worked without salary for the first 8 years. Alumni are game designers at PlayStation, entrepreneurs and reporters at NPR, whom I look forward to connecting with in the coming weeks. The legacy of staff and actual Latinitas are uniquely passionate and equipped to carry out the mission from here on out. That was Latinitas’ greatest gift - that so many of you shared our enthusiasm for a more equitable, creative and welcoming world for the most underestimated and least resourced kids. I am so proud of what was accomplished - we over-indexed on high school and college graduation rates for Latinas and graduated 50% more STEM majors than the national average for girls, working in communities with the least tech access. My heart is teeming with gratitude for the global collective that did this - from the girls who tackled difficult production and coding activities to the dad who exterminated our 2nd office in gratitude for his daughter’s camp scholarship, to the Latino and Latina elders who donated space and wisdom, foundations that believed in us, sponsors who donated, but also rallied whole departments to assist us, former board who fundraised and strategized, partners who helped us map the East Side with virtual reality and mosaic art and so many of you who demonstrated a skill, mentored girls, brought snacks and shared their life experiences and showed up to support us for many years.
