Absolutely beautifully made pipe from @panico.ferriola.works . I wanted a volcano shape and also to have sand from Iwo Jima incorporated into the design. For those that don’t know, Iwo Jima is the island that the U.S. Marine Corps along with help from the U.S. Navy took from the Japanese forces in WWII. The famous picture of the raising of the American flag happened atop Mt. Suribachi, the island’s highest point. Describing the Marines, Adm. Nimitz said that uncommon valor was a common virtue. It was important to me that the pipe maker was also a Marine. I asked @mcd3566 for a recommendation and was not disappointed. #pipes #iwojima #marines

SmokeTales is a truly special, one of a kind project. A full color comic book series showcasing pipes, and the stories they have to tell.

Featuring 100% hand-drawn artwork, SmokeTales offers a unique look into the pipe, the maker, and more importantly, the collector and owner of the pipe.

We will feature multiple pipes per issue, offering a truly wonderful read and visual story telling that really paints the stories of these pipes in a captivating way.

Our first issue, SmokeTales Issue 1, includes stories submitted by Ray @mcd3566 , Andrew andrewthomasevans and Pakcik @pakcikdee and shows pipes from phenomenal makers such as @eltangpipes , @natekingpipes and @orton_artisan

Follow along on the journey, and stay tuned for updates. We are working around the clock to make this one of the most awesome collaboration projects available for the pipe community.

I believe in the 1960’s, Avon began their marketing campaign of manufacturing novelty bottles as vessels for their fragrances. Many variations were made in the span of a few decades with some being more sought after than others. This is not one of them 😞 but still a very cool shelf piece, nonetheless. It checks all the boxes for me… pipe, bully breed, and sophisticated hooligan. Oi!

@castellopipesinternational Opera 44 (Reg No. and patent era, 1947-1948) carved by Carlo Scoti in Via Fossano, in Cantù. This is a museum piece and a truly priceless pipe. The white bar is ivory and the bowl is a classic oval. It was a gift from @mcd3566. There are no words to describe the generosity of this man. He gifted it to me out of the kindness of his heart because he felt it belonged with my collection of opera 44 pipes. The pipe community is full of legends, but Ray is a legend among legends. This pipe was verified by Kino as an original, probably from the first year the workshop opened. And I have included pictures of the workbench it may very well have been carved on.
