The fish absolutely wanted the @chaostackle medussa today..... this one choked it down....

We lost a good one on the same dago sucker medussa after she crushed it waaay out on the cast... tail walking as our northern muskies do.

Shout out to disherthefisher for the awsome camera shots! Check out his YouTube for some awsome musky action 🤙🤙

Some back country camping and musky from a trip in July! Felt great to be out in nature while chasing these toothy critters.

Disher had most of the action bagging 5 smaller muskies and @billyjack416 had an awsome tiger to cap the trip off!

No giants to post but when you see 7 lower 30 inch fish in a few days it shows the system has a great future ahead.

Downsized blades, swim baits and spinner baits were the ticket to these sporty muskies!

@korymax_fishing joined a couple of good friends, @billyjack416 and disher-the-fisher (YouTube), for an unforgettable backcountry musky camping trip. I'll have a full trip recap coming later, but the story behind @billyjack416's 37" tiger musky deserves its own post!

Last year, Disher was on this same lake when his boat landed a rare northern tiger musky on the north end while his partner was casting for bass—an incredible catch in its own right. (Photo 3)

Well, this trip that exact same tiger musky decided to make another appearance... in epic fashion.

Billy is a true multi-species angler, but he hadn't landed a musky in nearly two seasons—a slump that was long overdue to end. After four days on the water with us, he had really dialed in his casting efficiency and presentations, and it paid off.

On the final full day of the trip, Billy was at the front of the boat retrieving his @blue_water_baits spinnerbait when this tiger absolutely crushed it in a heart-stopping vertical strike that caught both of us completely off guard. The boat erupted into absolute mayhem as we realized what had just happened!

Disher wasted no time, making a perfect net job on this beautiful hybrid. You could probably hear the celebration from across the lake.

SLUMP BUSTED! 🙌 Congrats Billy on an epic fish!

This is what it's all about—camaraderie, excitement, unforgettable moments, and making memories with great friends.

And here's the best part: catch and release works. Had that fish not been handled and released properly by Disher's crew the year before, Billy may never have had the opportunity to catch this magnificent fish.

Not only is this tiger rare but it was caught of opposite ends of a lake of 3500 acres 🤯🤯

To anyone new, experienced or in-between in musky fishing, please remember that moments like these only happen when we protect the resource. Be good stewards of these incredible fish so someone else can experience the same thrill years down the road.

Spring Fever Part 4

This is the last edition of the spring fever opener reels, this musky was caught on the first spot of the first day. This happens to be the same spot my dad landed one on the first spot of the first day on opener as well!

We identified this location based on having all the right spawning conditions, feeder creek, shallow flat with soft bottom, and a deep basin directly adjacent.

The deep basin always holds the systems main forage species and is a great spot for the bigger females to slide out and suspend in open water following the spawn.

@wils1717 was chucking an @muskyinnovations shallow swimming dawg in the custom @teamrhinooutdoors dew perch!

What a way to start the year 👏 looking forward to this year's early opener 🤙🤙

Spring Fever Part 3

You know its close when the boat comes out! While @steeliemax was picking up the Crestliner, I took a drive down to see Dave @trojan_tackle_inc to pick up the hardware for the new #trolling set up!! Dave was quick, professional and had us set up in less than 2 weeks 🙌

We picked up our @barbarianbraid spears at the @muskiescanada Odyssey and are officially ready to go!

I will do a quick reel/walk through on the set up and how we intend to run it around pike opener. Steeliemax and I will be back on the water together!!

Spring Fever is getting bad now

CANCAST & Muskies Canada Odyssey

Big thank you to @muskiescanada and @cancastfishing for putting on one hell of a show! The vendors lightened the SBO wallets with an absolute smorgasbord of stunning baits 🤪🤪😉 but most importantly the volunteers who did an amazing job keeping all of us musky nuts and anglers alike in check lol

We took home a nice haul of baits and importantly got some fresh @barbarianbraid spears to shore up the trolling game for next season 💪💪, while dropping off some hardware for @trojan_tackle_inc to spice up the setup 🙌

Great chatting with as many of the musky community as we could!

We are ready, bring on June 😤

Muskies Canada

Had an amazing time last night at the @muskies.canada.mississauga chapter meeting that featured a presentation from a good friend @jonahvangeest based around how to break down new water systems. Great presentation with tons of helpful information.... if you are serious about musky fishing you probably saw his 56" brute he caught at the very end of last season and already know about his glide baits! If not I highly suggest you check it out 💪

Not only did I enjoy a few drinks while shooting the musky breeze with fellow anglers but I also ended up winning this beautiful @clarkeybaits crank! Safe to say it was an awsome time 🔥🔥

The last two clips are from a back country trip that Jonah and I went on where we landed 8 muskies on a quick trip.

If you are a Canadian that is into musky fishing but not part of @muskiescanada you are missing out on an opportunity to help support Canadian musky fisheries and musky research.

Its also a welcoming group that helps you network and learn from experienced anglers like Jonah and many others.

Looking forward to @cancastfishing and the odyssey this year! This would be a great event for anglers to sign up for Muskies Canada and enjoy a massive fishing show.

Catch & Release: Cool Storey Pt 2

This little musky certainly has the spirit to be a future heavy weight! I was able to land this voracious musky twice 4 weeks apart in different area of the system!

The first time we encountered it (photo 1) I was fishing with @steeliemax casting an @dadson_blade_baits, slowly rolling it along the bottom. I could feel that I was pulling through submerged timber so I sped it up a bit and the moment it cleared the wood she smoked the bait putting up a hell of a fight before being netted!

A quick releasing process and back she went healthy!

The second time I contacted her (photo 2) was on a slow day 4 weeks following the first encounter. The fish were being stubborn so I switched presentations and went to my @bondybaitcompany custom painted by @fishing_with_uncleronny. We dont have live scope so when I was jigging i was using a portable depth finder, jigging in the beam I watched this musky come up on bottom and position itself under the bait.

A couple more jigging motions and she cranked the bondy bait, a quick fight and she was back in the bag. As I got the hooks out I mentioned to my buddy Andrew that someone had recently caught her judging by the hook marks on her mouth. I had a weird feeling I had met this fish before.

After looking at the photos I quickly confirmed it was indeed the same musky. She has a unique lower back fin and her tail fin has a distinct split right at the tip of the lower half.

She was a significant distance from where I had caught her the first time which was surprising. This goes to show, catch and release works!!
