Welcome to our newest PGY-1 orthodontic residents! 🦷✨

Congratulations on completing the first few weeks of residency. Almost one month in, and officially settling into life as orthodontic residents!

The journey has only just begun, and we can’t wait to watch them learn, grow, and make their mark over the next two years.

Here’s to a great first year and everything ahead! 💙❤️

Meet our fundraising chair, McKayla Butler. She chose dentistry because she loves the artistic aspect of it. She enjoys being able to witness patients appreciating their new and improved smiles after leaving the dental office. She loves that she is able to contribute to the boost in someones level of confidence by providing them with restorative or orthodontic treatment.

First day of D1 year! I’m so blessed to be living my dreams. I’m so excited to see what this year brings! I feel motivated, grateful and a little anxious but I know I’ll do great, especially with the people in slide 2 by my side🤍

My classmates & I volunteered at the Back to School Bash hosted by @prealumni_mmc to hand out backpacks, school supplies, and books to Pre-K through 2nd grade students. Medical and Dental students also provided cleanings and physicals to make sure the kiddos were ready for the school year! Thankful for the opportunity💜💚

GOD I THANK YOU. If you’ve been on this journey with me then you know it has been a rocky and curvy road. The journey to GET into dental school has been my hardest accomplishment so far. Right now all I can say is Thank You God.

I thank you for all the No’s and for never letting me give up. I thank you for moving me to Nashville 7 months ago with no clue of what would come next and now getting to call this place home for the next 4 years. I thank you that I get to attend 1 of 2 HBCU’s in the nation for dentistry. Thank you for allowing my transition to Nashville to be easy and for providing me new friendships and a church family. God I thank you that you’re about to use me to change black and brown lives through the field of medicine. Most importantly, Thank you to my family. Your support of me has been unconditional and I am forever grateful. Every part of this journey has been NOTHING BUT GOD. Only 3.8% of US dentist are black, I’m proud to say I’m about to be apart of that number. 🦷🤍
