The @mclendonfoundation Experience in Durham was ELITE. TOP TIER!

If I were a young professional looking to work in sports, I would find my way here next year! This is where your network is BUILT!

I loved running my session for these young professionals!
I want them to walk into rooms and own them when a REAL sense of who they are and what they can offer.

By going BEYOND the job description you can and should finesse your way into any role you want, but you got to do your homework!

I'm so excited for this generation of young professionals and I know our paths will cross again!

Last week at the 2026 McLendon Experience ✨ a 2-day conference to help aspiring sports and entertainment professionals break into the industry 🚀

Through keynotes, panels, workshops and more, attendees had the opportunity to connect with industry experts and leave with a playbook for what's next.

Thank you to LaunchBreaker, Ishita Tibrewal for inviting the LaunchBreak community to be in attendance!

To come home and see the messages... always makes it worth it! I love what I do, which makes this super easy!

Thank you to the organizations who allowed me to learn in the midst of teaching. You will all get your own post but for now, MANY MANY MANY thanks for your trust!

#BobcatsOnTheRoad | Kamaria Montgomery and Kaylie Ward, both members of the Class of 2026, recently connected at the McLendon Experience Conference in Durham, North Carolina! Kamaria attended on behalf of Cal Athletics, while Kaylie works for the Durham Sports Commission, which hosted the event. Great to see our Bobcats making an impact in the sports industry!

This weekend in Durham 🎥⚽️

I had the opportunity to attend the McLendon Experience, connecting with professionals across the sports industry and gaining valuable insight for my career.

While in Durham, I also covered Cal Women’s Soccer against No. 6 Duke — my first travel experience with Cal Athletics. The Bears battled to a 1-1 draw in a great national matchup.

Grateful for a weekend filled with professional development, networking and great soccer! 🐻

Still processing two amazing days at the McLendon Experience. 🤎

Came home with a full notebook, new connections, and A LOT to think about.

A few things I’m taking with me:

✨ Preparation creates separation.
✨ Relationships win championships.
✨ People are your most important network.
✨ There is no linear path in sports.
✨ Be willing to learn beyond your job title.
✨ Follow up. Then follow up again.
✨ Don’t be afraid of the butterflies. Put them to work.
✨ There is still so much room to build in women’s sports.

And as an NCCU alumna, this experience meant even more to me. The connection to John McLendon and The Secret Game is a reminder that I was educated by a place where history was thought of, inspired and made.

To be able to learn, connect and grow in a space carrying his name and legacy was something I’m truly grateful for.

No matter what sector of sports we’re in, we’re all in this together.

Grateful for every conversation, connection and lesson from these two days. Leaving inspired, encouraged and ready to keep doing the work.

Eagle Pride. The work continues.🫡
