We were beyond honoured to be able to attend the rededication of the graves of those three brave officers, Kennedy, Lonigan and Scanlan . Words cannot describe what it was like to be there, the memories Leo Kennedy shared of his boyhood of his father taking him to Stringybark and to the Cemetery at Mansfield.

Sharing time with all those in attendance, including the families of the decendants who lost their lives, the survivors Thomas McIntyre's descendants (including one who is a Police Inspector) and also descendants of the Lloyd and Hart family (Tom Lloyd Jnr who was often called the 5th Kelly gang member and Steve Hart who was a part of the gang and lost his life at the Glenrowan siege) .... it was a gift and something we will always treasure that we could be a part of.

It impresses even further the importance of our project, "Kennedy" . The way in which the Kennedy family especially spoke about how their hearts are overflowing with gratitude that their family, their personal heroes in Bridget and Michael Kennedy’s story is going to be told in this way and on a global scale with the feature film, it hammers down even further into our hearts and souls the significance and desperate importance.

The look in the eyes of gratitude and joy of one elder stateswoman of the Kennedy family, Judy (who kept on hugging Lauren) , we cannot let them down.

Judy said to us that she is so excited for this and can't believe what we're doing . Our reply was simple.

"We're honoured that you all are allowing us to honour Bridget, Michael, their story, especially Bridget's that everyone should know"

We felt the same with speaking to Deborah from the Lonigan family. Their tragedy could make an entire film in itself. To bring Thomas Lonigan to life and talk about Charlotte Maria's story.

There's so much to do still .

Thank you to Nick McCallum and Seven News Melbourne for the story and the credit for the footage.

As we edge closer to locking in shooting dates for @kennedyfeaturefilm , we wanted to share the official laurel from @kiiff.official, awarding the script for "Kennedy" as the winner for Best Feature Screenplay.

In the process of writing and development of this production, on top of the years of research, dozens of books (some that were sourced from rare book shops internationally), journals, historical periodicals, interviews, we not only engaged the services of the amazing @tintnerchryssy as our script consultant but also sought out multiple professional script coverage reports (finding the script placed in the 98th percentile in one, 99th percentile in another, full recommendations, comparisons to scripts like Braveheart and Cold Mountain).

The foundation of the production is the script and the script written by Lauren and Darren has given "Kennedy" the most solid foundation possible. From that foundation, the work the rest of the team, the incredible producers who are working their magic behind the scenes to make this project possible, can become a reality.

The script will continue to evolve, find ways to listen and grow even more, but for this point in time, with only a few festival entries left before the year is done and before we enter into production, we just wanted to share this latest milestone and and especially thank EVERYONE who has supported "Kennedy" along the way.

The best is yet to come.

Thank you @kiiff.official and @mandrpictures .

6th Annual KIIFF official nomination for best Screenplay

We would like to do a special thank you too, for the amazing @tintnerchryssy , our incredible script consultant, without whom the current draft of Kennedy wouldn't be where it is, wouldn't have been able to attract the eyes that we currently have on @kennedyfeaturefilm and we wouldn't be in the position we are now . Chryssy's wealth of experience brought to our writers, Lauren and Darren, a whole new perspective and they really found the voice that "Kennedy" was calling .

Our script coverage from multiple sources, one of which placed "Kennedy" in the 98th percentile (top 2% of scripts around the world) is a testament to the power the script already brings to the table.

Regardless of the final results of the festival (which we will hear about in the coming days) it's an honour that the script has been seen and nominated.

🎬 CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT 🎬

We are so proud to welcome the incredible Anthony Brandon Wong to the cast of Kennedy.

Best known globally as Ghost in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, and for his groundbreaking role in SBS’s The Family Law, Anthony joins us as Liu Dihuan, a journalist who refuses to accept the accepted version of history, and dares to ask: was Ned Kelly really the hero so many Australians believe him to be?

Anthony also joins the team as Drama Coach, bringing decades of experience mentoring some of Australia’s most celebrated actors.

Kennedy tells the untold story of Bridget Kennedy, the fierce, loving widow of Sergeant Michael Kennedy, killed by the Kelly Gang, and her extraordinary fight to be remembered.

Welcome to the family, Anthony. 🖤

Produced by Darren K Hawkins, Thea McLeod and @kierendevisser Written by Darren K Hawkins and @mcleod_casting who also stars. Casting by @mcleod_casting
