What a night. ❤️

Last night, we brought our Ballroom to life for a very special celebration. 📚 Champagne was poured 🥂 Lobster Wellington was served 🦞 music from our friends @alexmendham 🎶 and the room filled with the people we love who make Claridge’s what it is.

To everyone who joined us, raised a glass and made the evening so special, thank you for being part of our story. A night we’ll be talking about for chapters to come. 🥂

@williamstorr, in The Science of Storytelling, says humans are Homo narrans. The storytelling animal.

Last week, at our supper club at @devonshiresoho, @mcmoop talked about “Stories as Currency”

Endlessly fascinating podcast with @jeremyrbking this morning at @simpsons1828

We prodded and poked at the nucleus of Storytelling - Literature - Restaurants - Humanity.

Jeremy wrote fictional characters and stories to build his restaurants on.

Everything is downstream from a great story

Restuarants are microcosms of humanity and stories are the currency of humanity

The pizzas @crisppizzaw6 are so so good, they deserve a post of their own. A collaboration with @themarlboroughmayfair sister pub of the @the_devonshire_pub . At weekends be prepared to queue up. I would hop on a plane in the morning to get one again, they are that good. The hot honey 😋🤌🏻!!.

Five years ago, my brother Oisín and I trained for the London Marathon together while I was working at the Royal Marsden. This month, we’re taking on Dublin 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️ So many running pics in my photo album, I posted a few here 🥰

This time, we’re running for the patients I look after every day and raising money for colorectal cancer patients at the Mater Hospital. Every donation will be ring-fenced for our colorectal patients and will help expand access to robotic cancer surgery.

This is a cause very close to my heart so if you can spare a donation, or share my post, I’d be so grateful.

HUNGRY X THE DEVONSHIRE SUPPER CLUB

Fabulous evening with my wonderful friend @mcmoop at @devonshiresoho for our latest Supper Club with @ubereats_uk

Osh and I recorded an incredible live podcast where we dug deep into The Devonshire’s runaway success.

One lesson deeply struck a chord.

There are 3 legs to The Devonshire’s success stool, all in a symbiotic relationship.

1. Silent Irritants
2. Silent Pleasantries
3. Stories as Currency

Silent Irritants are chewing gum under the bar. Slightly bent fork. Creaky banister. Slightly too-hot room. A waiter who doesn’t look you directly in the eye.

By annihilating Silent Irritants you blossom Silent Pleasantries.

The Devonshire’s are the doormen dressed in causal gear just like the customers. The beautiful, heavy stair banisters. The hum of the dining room laden with arresting pieces of art work.

Finally, Silent pleasantries become positive
sharable stories. Osh says Stories are Currency.

Most operators focus on Value for Money. Osh focuses on Value for Time (or Story). And, great stories spread like wildfire.

Shot for @broadsheet.london just 2 weeks fresh into my London life last year. I’d never heard of it. Not sure I’d even had a proper “vertical pint” yet at that point either - naww! Discovered my love & appreciation for Irish trad music here… makes me lean into my last name a little more. If anyone’s spotted the “Saussy-on-a-stick” artwork at the front bar… now you know who shot it (and obvs ate it)… hehe. At £2 a sausage, it’s maybe the best value snack I’ve come across in London so far… Thanks for all the fun n laughs always @mcmoop @ashleypalmerwatts. 💚💚

I’m a massive fan of Shobsy’s. I’ll never forget the first time I heard him singing Small Town Boy and thinking he might’ve improved on the original.
This clip is from the Onic interview and performances that you can hear on the show tomorrow 10am - 12pm.
He tells a beautiful story about an unlikely connection between his grandparents and Crowded House and then sang this on the hoof. An exceptional performance by an extraordinary artist.
