FACTS! Water is the lifeblood of mosquitoes and the boreal wetlands are a hotbed for bugs – and it’s getting hotter. With warming global temperatures, mosquitoes hatch earlier, grow larger and live longer – and that blood-sucks for animals like caribou who can lose up to 4 lbs of blood each year to these pesky pests. But mozzies aren’t all bad news. They’re a key food source for birds, fish, and other insects, helping fuel entire food webs across the boreal forest to keep nature in balance. Episode 3, “Sun’s Out, Bug’s Out” follows Isabelle and her herd on their annual migration from the soggy, bug-infested wetlands to higher elevations. The breezy alpine ice patches provide caribou refuge from pesky insects so they can eat and rest to raise their young. Watch the full-episode on YouTube (link in profile). #puppets #canada #nature

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for – SPRING! And the premiere episode of Season 2. Just watch already! FACTS! Winter lasts about 6 months up here in the boreal forest and temperatures can dip below minus 40 degrees. So how the heck do species survive? Turns out they all have BIOLOGICAL TRICKS – adapt, migrate or hibernate. In this episode – “Season’s Change”, the critters experience first-hand what happens when Brian the Bear wakes up from his epic nap and releases his hibernation “cork” in their burrow to answer the age-old question: does a bear poop in the woods?! Subscribe on YouTube, watch full-episodes and share the love of classic TV (link in profile). #puppets #nature #canada

Today we unveil a “pièce de résistance” – the new Northern Tails Season 2 poster... It was a labour of love – 130 HOURS OF PAINTING! – and we couldn’t love it more. We wanted to create an iconic design that pays tribute to classics like Stand By Me, The Goonies and all The Muppets movies. We worked with Bennett Slater, a Toronto-based fine artist with incredible talent and impressive movie poster cred, to re-imagine our cast of smart and quirky characters on a bold boreal adventure together. Like the show itself, our poster is original, hand-crafted artwork, inspired by parody spirit and throwback vibes. We’ll have some beautiful limited edition prints of the poster for sale at our launch events this week along with other awesome merch. #puppet #canada #original #fineart #movieposter
