Our latest work, “The Surrender”, is now out.

Working with animation means creating the sound from scratch. Every movement, texture, environment and creature had to be imagined and built from zero. The real challenge was creating the sonic identity of each world the film moves through.
We jump between completely different universes, each with its own language and rules, creating environments from zero and making every transition feel like entering somewhere new.

A huge part of that world-building was bringing its creatures to life. We created an entire ecosystem of monsters, designing their voices, movements, breaths and personalities. Some needed to feel enormous and threatening, others strange, organic or surreal. A lot of the fun came from recording unexpected sources, manipulating and layering them until we discovered what each creature should sound like.

Foley was essential in making all of this feel physical. Together with El Pertigosaurio, we created the gestures, footsteps and textures that gave weight to worlds that only existed in animation.

Music was also part of that world-building. For the arcade sequence, we created an 8-bit reinterpretation of “Eternity”, translating it into the language of Mitsuki’s videogame world.

Later, with José Luis Hernández and Juanfe Pérez, we built the flamenco tablao around bulería and seguiriya. Every flamenco "palo" carries its own emotion and cultural background, so following the narrative we are moving from the energy of Bulería into the deeper, darker character of Seguiriya.

All of this had to live alongside a score by Hans Zimmer. A special challenge, making sound design, creatures, Foley, flamenco, 8-bit music and Hans’ score feel part of the same film.

A massive thank you to the whole team behind this one ❤️

Cuando Peter Dinklage nos soltó aquello de “Careful of the Andalusian Crush” no sabíamos que el viaje iba a terminar de esta manera con Hans Zimmer. Que nos quiten lo “bailao”
