$Visit our show 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐢 by Caroline Hake & Maik Schlüter this weekend. Still on View until November 30th. 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 & 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 Rail tracks, masts, trees, building façades, freight trains, fields, industrial buildings, train stations, and random stopping points mark the visual repertoire of a daily commute. Fatigue, half-sleep, daydreaming, and a latent feeling of emptiness are some of the states that outline the emotional set of visual engagement. The gaze is trained, still focused through the corner of the eye and in passing, assessing, registering, and repeating. An unavoidable visual processing in the mode of the daily repetitive path. The thought of lost time is followed by a medial intervention: photographing, erasing, overpainting, dissolving. The image as compulsion or mania. On deeper levels, shapes and colors, horizon lines and vanishing points, planes and textures, and the skeletons of architectural models resonate. Routine and feedback. Indifferent is the technology: the camera as a feature, the image as a display, tools and filters counteracting the work on the image. Digital compression is a liberation, the supposedly faulty handling a multifaceted process. Every removal is also an addition. It is also the random stop at a traffic sign: a stop just before entering. The return to the same point. The feeling of being followed by a building. The gaze falls on an in-between field and discovers an unknown shape, a form of spatial inversion, a blurry perception of structures that then break into segments. A moment between wavering blurriness and fractures in the spatial structure. The stretched imagination generates urban mutations of a city with shifting vanishing points, shattered façades, and decaying infrastructure. — Maik Schlüter, 2024 (german Text below) 📸: Maik Schlüter - Works from the Series „Routine & Indifference“, Digital Print, 20 x 30 cm, 2024 @hakefotografie @mcschlueter_ @spinnereigalleries$
