I was on the phone with my dad this morning after I dropped the kids off at school. Our conversation rolled into an idea I had thought of for one of daughters. He asks for clarity, and then proceeds to tell me how he did not think it was such a great idea, considering how my daughter’s mind works. We talked some more for a bit, him dragging me as usual for not being handy with my phone and how much easier it is to reach Madam Aisha Buhari than me. The call ended.

I stayed where I was and contemplated the fact that my father had contributed to the amazing world my children’s minds live in. Not once has he ever not been understanding of my children. If it’s anything he has ever been, it is PROUD.
Without a shadow of a doubt, my siblings and I are SURE that we are my father’s pride and joy. It is such an unbelievably, beautiful and heavenly thing to know, our children are too. I dare say, even more so.

So, here’s to all the grandparents navigating neurodivergence for the first time in understanding, and how they show up in deep love, love in urgency, and urgently fight for what their babies need at all times.

You have ALL my love! 🤍

Big shout out to Crown Prince Bassey Itama.
You are everything, and more than more.
I love you.

In preparation for our Shakara Christmas party happening on the 24th of December, we are having a fabric donation day this Saturday 22nd November at JRandle Center, Onikan Lagos. Come along with any Nigerian fabric you have as the fabrics donated will be used to create our Naija Christmas tree, the first ever to be made with our Nigerian Fabrics.
