We had a family member die alone in the hospital last night. Dosia Carlson was one of my heroes. A humble servant to all. She founded Duet: Partners in Health and Aging in 1981 and worked tirelessly to help and serve the elderly and so many others to the very end of her life. When I came across this photo today, I felt it was important to post in light of all who have passed needlessly due to this virus. And all left behind suffering the loss of their loved ones. This photo shows mask-wearing during the 1918 pandemic in Santa Monica. It shows Santa Monica residents on PCH posing with their masks on and the woman holds up a sign that states: “Wear a mask or go to jail”. Maybe this encourages everyone to keep on their masks 103 years later? Also, one of them is not wearing it over their nose. It is important to wear it correctly. Masks are one important component in staying safe. They are not full proof. Please distance and please take other safety precautions. Stay safe and healthy everyone. Love your neighbors.
