It’s not very often that life gives you a chance to heal, or at least have a cathartic experience surrounding painful experiences in our lives. As an actor, it’s not very often that I say, “wow…NOW I have a right to play this woman.” Thank goodness I am doing it now, even if it is only for a week instead of for years in New York. The opportunity to freely create and the permission to do so especially after 10 years of being gone from the stage, was not lost on me. And doing it in my hometown, with my children there to see me (as inappropriate as this show may be for a 7 and 3 yr old 🫠) made it even more earth shattering. I am forever grateful to the universe for sending me this gift. Grateful to Jaune Buisson and the people at @summerlyrictulane for believing in me despite a bum old lady toe with some new hardware. I am thankful for a body and a mind that allowed me to push through this process and fight any self doubt that tried to creep in and make me less than I am. Screw that noise!!! I am a theater kid…I always will be at my core. This reminded me of that. I feel more at home on the stage than I do anywhere else. To bring Roxie to life with so much of myself (a middle aged woman, a mother, a person who is afraid of not leaving a legacy or who is deeply terrified of not being seen) was full of the vulnerability that is the sacred stuff of acting. And to get to do that while dancing and singing with a bunch of exceptional loving humans that were my cast mates was the icing on the cake. I love you all and our down and dirty Entract. ♥️Back to my West Coast life with my babies and my Miles with a smile on my face and bit of extra gratitude.

One summer. Two beautiful shows. Infinite gratitude.

And just like that, it’s a wrap.

Velma…what a joy and adventure it was to step into your shoes. Thank you to the incredibly talented Chicago cast and team, you’re all rockstars, and I loved every minute of sharing the stage with you. What dreams are made of.

Once…there’s no greater gift for an artist than helping create something from the ground up. A truly blank canvas, brought to life by an incredibly dedicated group of artists. It was such a privilege to shape the movement of this beautiful story alongside a brilliant creative team. Special thank you to the cast for your hard work and endless joy throughout the process. You were quite literally the song, the dance, the music, the story.

Thank you to everyone who made this summer so special. ❤️
