With every experience, we remember how to rise and walk again—through it, in it, around it, and over it. Because that is who we are. It is our birthright. They walked before us so that we could find our way, guided by their footsteps and the paths they left behind. Through them, we continue discovering who we are, who they were, and who we are becoming. The walk in the Eastern Cape for Ingoduko 2026 with #areyegaelennaexperiences , supported by @fombrand ,was deeply affirming in more ways than words can express. It reminded us of our strength, our history, and our connection to one another. We will carry this experience with us always. Sitting pretty are the Proteas on board!! Nothing makes me happier than hitting the road with the Proteas as my passengers, and this time we did it in the Isuzu MU-X 4x4 ONYX XT. From Gauteng to Limpopo and then home [ the Village ] before we took it to the other side of Tzaneen, it was two days of enjoying the drive and collecting memories. Lemme share one of my fond memories growing up, we used to play different house games, but this one… we’d sit in pairs and go through furniture shop and grocery store pamphlets that used to be dropped off at our gates. Sometimes we’d watch the TV on those papers, imagine it was a real TV, and tell stories from whatever was “playing.” Yoh, that could take hours! We’d take turns until we got bored or someone got called home. And sometimes we’d go for the food in the fridges and pretend we were eating it so well that we’d end up making up so many stories. Just from that one game, we’d only go home at the end of the day, never even thinking about eating because we’d been imaginary eating all day. 😂😂😂 What a time! I just smile every time I think about it. So today, here I am, too lazy to make food, and guess what? I’m looking at this picture of the best breakie I had recently, and I’m playing that same imaginary game, hoping it’ll trick my mind into thinking I’m eating that very same food. Then maybe I’ll go on for a few more hours until I gather the strength to actually make something to eat. 😂 Crazy, right? But I’ma let my inner child flourish with this one. One thing about me… I’m obsessed with light jerrrrrr!!!!! The morning light and the evening light have always fascinated me. Physically they’re related, but emotionally they couldn’t feel more different. Morning light has this incredible clarity to it. [ especially the Village one! ] The air feels cooler, the shadows are long and crisp, and everything looks like it’s been given a fresh start. Ordinary walls, trees, streets… they all seem to carry this quiet dignity. I mean, look at this wall. It’s glowing. The texture comes alive. It almost feels sculptural. That’s what amazes me most about light. It transforms everything without changing the thing it touches. To me, light is time made visible. It reveals, softens, exaggerates, creates depth, wraps around a subject instead of flattening it. You can stand in the exact same spot every single day, and the light will never tell the same story twice. Maybe that’s why I’m so obsessed with it. There’s something almost philosophical about light. It’s invisible until it touches something. Look at this Isuzu MU-X 4x4 ONYX XT against the first light of the morning. Nothing about the car has changed, but suddenly there’s depth, warmth, contrast and colour. It’s as if beauty was there all along, waiting for the light to reveal it. Foot-and-mouth disease really did a number on a lot of us. Here in the Capricorn District, this is the first time we’ve had to deal with an outbreak like this, and it hasn’t been easy. My heart also goes out to those in other district’s and provinces that had to go through this more than once. Our livestock have been vaccinated halala government- you came through! but now the real work. They haven’t been eating well, so getting them back to full strength with a balanced mix of feed is so important—especially the calves and the mothers that are breastfeeding. We’ll be okay. Just a few more months, and we’ll bounce back. I know we will. On my way home from work, I stopped at my favourite spot to collect some lucerne to mix with the rest of their feed. Right now, every little bit counts when it comes to helping them recover. Moments like these reminds me how important it is to drive a car you can rely on. Ohhhhh, the bridges we will cross! The bridges that carry us over! Magnificent! Magical! I always make it a point to take mental notes of all of them, and mostly pray that they keep growing stronger so we can continue crossing back and forth. And this one is the oldest famous bridge in Maletswai, in the Eastern Cape. Leaving Mqele (Elliotdale), kwaXhora in the Eastern Cape after wasn’t easy at all. It felt bitter and deeply personal. I wasn’t ready to go, but I had to remind myself that I didn’t come alone. The drive to Mthatha held my silence.
Every kilometre pulled, every turn asked me to stay — yet @isuzusa MUX carried us gently, powerfully through the mist, like it understood the weight on me. 
What a machine, what a presence… a beast that always leaves me in awe of its capabilities. 
With every journey, it whispers a truth:
no road is too difficult when you are carried well, and not just carried by any, but ISUZU! From Mthatha Viwe and Mercy suggested we take the route through Aliwal North, and the views… ohhhhhhh 🥹 and there, the land spoke.
We stopped, not because we planned to,
but because beauty demanded stillness. I drove past here before, many moons ago coming from Coffee Bay,
yet it felt untouched by time — new, and somehow deeply familiar. We stopped and took it all in. It reminded me of Swaziland, Venda, Magoebaskloof, Mpumalanga… different names, different textures,
but woven from the same earth. You see it when you TRAVEL — how the land remembers itself in every place,
how we, too, are reflections of that same wholeness. You see the uniqueness, but you also feel the connection. I don’t know if that makes sense, but we really are one — umhlaba is one.
