Fun weekend at @tucsoncomiccon!

Couldn’t be there for as long as usual, but I got a couple good trooping shifts in, got to see club friends, and spent a little time walking the artist alley floor.

Throughout our galaxy far far away planets climates and their fauna are as various as they are deadly. There are a lot of things to consider when operating on hostile terrain - join us while we explore the adjacent vocabulary in Mando’a and talk about the different biomes found in the Star Wars universe!

Episode 15 - Hostile Terrain is now available everywhere where Podcasts are found!

A massive thanks to our cover models:

“This is the way!” Watch a local Mandalorian make kids at Tucson Medical Center happy in their quest for healing.

Awesome story for premier day for “The Mandalorian and Grogu” in theaters!

Just casually resting our buckets on stage used props. No big deal

While the absolute FOMO for Star Wars celebration 2027 is in full swing, here are some pics of when I was lucky enough to attend last years edition in Japan, which was unforgettable.

Hopefully the edition after this one is a little closer to home!

A very special #throwbackthursday: A few days ago I received a very sweet message from a young lady who currently works at an organization where I worked for 10 years @skyislandalliance There I used to speak to youth groups often. This one time in 2008 I was invited to speak at Meagan Bethel’s elementary school; read her message below:

“Hi there Sergio, I hope you are doing well. I was just at work going through SIA’s old program folders for an upcoming wildlife blog when I came across photos of when you came to talk at my elementary school!
And lo and behold one of the last images was the one! I credit you and this talk for getting me curious about ocelots and that conservation can happen at the local level.
So it was a lot of fun to see these photos“

Uff! This is one story I am so proud of. In those years I not only met @meaganfauna , but also her parents @bethelkathleen @bilbo_bethel whom are super nice, kind and also inspiring. It’s very satisfactory to know that at least one kid, out of the hundreds that I have spoken to, was inspired to follow in a conservation career.

Thank you for sharing Meagan. I’m proud of you, your interest and commitment, and the scientist you have become 🐆🦁

The first is a group photo after my talk; I covered the faces of other kids out of respect. The second photo is me speaking about studying cats with remote wildlife cameras.
