Meaningful Monday! I rarely get to surprise my husband because he’s hard to pull surprises on. He’s been wanting to try @talnuadistillery for awhile now but they are only in CO. When I told @tathelanaest83 she was like oh bet!! Well in comes @meaganunmalted who happened to be at the archer eland launch and was down to surprise him. When I tell you it was the best surprise and Meagan shocked him with the sample…. he was speechless! He’s in love with the sample and now wants a Colorado trip! Thank you again Wendy and Meagan! Y’all are rockstars!! ❤️ I love this whiskey community so much! So any amazing people!

Patrick and Meagan were so inspired in Ireland, they started Talnua when they came home. Before or after visiting them in Arvada, you can all play some dodgeball with bows & arrows next door! Don't worry, the arrows have giant rubber balls on the tip. Check out the latest episode of Broads of Bourbon on our YouTube channel now.

One of my favorite things: yap about barrels to people who are interested. GIVE ME A MIC. My preciousssss.

Last week, I got to spend the night with 65 whiskey lovers at @talnuadistillery in Arvada, CO. They host member education classes and this time, cooperage took the spotlight 🥃

Normally, Zach (our ops director + my partner in crime) would be beside me to share our long history at @zakcooperage . But with a lot of travel in September + 3 kids, we rock-paper-scissored who got to go. 😇

He still got FaceTimed in for the nerdy engineering bits I needed backup on. (I’ll never forget again what moisture content wood needs to be before you should pull it for coopering 😅)

Honestly, we could talk for weeks about the cooperage industry, but I had an hour. We covered who the barrel players are, oak, used barrel markets, and why the choices we make today show up years later in the glass.

I also brought six pours from distilleries we’ve partnered with so folks could taste the barrel’s influence 🖤🖤🖤

Huge thanks to Patrick + Meagan Miller who are some of my favorite humans in the world for sharing their community (and delicious single pot still whiskey) with me.

Colorado elevation = lips dry. Heart = full.

When @wanderlustandwhisky asked if I wanted to join her for a long weekend in Colorado, it was an easy (and resounding) YES. My first time in Colorado was in 2009, and I discovered mountains. That, in turn, catapulted me into a new life and where I am today. So it was absolutely wonderful to explore Denver and Boulder with Amanda. So much good food, great bookstores (I’m coming home with 4 new books), beautiful botanical gardens, delicious whiskey, hours of discussion on every topic, and completing her first 14er! I also got the bonus perk of spending time with my brother in law and his fiancée which is always a treat. It all was perfect. 💙 🏔️
