I don’t know which girls you’re talking about, because all of my girls, trainers and dogs alike, won’t back down from anyone. They are as ready to rock and roll as any of the males, and they never back down from a fight or a challenge.

Lux, one of our dogs from our Hades X Raya litter, practicing his self control, focus and obedience, all while Russ is running around acting like a crazy man.

This dog epitomizes the art of controlled aggression. Controlled all until it’s time to let the beast out, and then he’ll remind you why he is one of the top dogs around here!

There’s no doubt animals can be therapeutic and soothing. There’s a physiological and psychological process that happens in our brains when we see and/or pet an animal.
I collaborated with @jax_the_therapy_dog to better understand and share what is a Therapy Dog and what they do.

“Therapy dogs are well trained, but not to the level of a Service dog. They have a higher level of obedience training than a house pet. They also need to be able to tolerate and not be startled by a variety of interactions. Their training includes being exposed to loud noises, loud voices, different clothing, hats and facial hair. They need to be non reactive to smells, floor textures and even elevators or escalators. I have tried to expose my dogs to every situation I could imagine.

They can go where ever they are needed and invited. I have provided Therapy dog services to families that have lost a loved one to suicide, and to help families during end of life. We may take them to offices to help employees that work in stressful industries. Some specially trained Therapy dog teams will even be dispatched across the country to natural disasters, and to help families and victims of violence.

As a Therapy dog handler, my only job is to be their advocate. I watch for signs of stress in them, I look for anything in the area that could be dangerous to them. I closely monitor the people that interact with them to insure that they are being touched and petted calmly and safely. It is also a handlers responsibility to ensure the people we serve are safe. The animal must be healthy and clean, ie. fully vaccinated and showing no signs of illness, clean and well groomed.”

We had a most amazing evening last night. We were able to hang out our with our buddy Woodrow from @meaningfulstrides again. We were invited by @maligator_training to hang out with the service dogs they were training. We also met the nicest lady from @wadingwithwhitney! What could be better than horses, dogs and amazing people! Best Day Ever!!
You may remember Woodrow from last summer. He and his amazing handler helped me and my brothers learn how to successfully and calmly work around horses. In addition, they helped our Mom overcome her fear of horses. He is the sweetest horse and we love him and his person. They is offering Horse Therapy now and we could not be more excited! Maybe, just maybe we will get to work together with him someday.
