🇯🇲 Jamaican Maypole dance was brought to the South Kilburn CarniVale by @linett_kamala who led the inaugural dance. In this contemporary version of the maypole, we dance to Jamaican dancehall instrumental riddims, such as Hill & Gully, which are popular all around the world.

Thank you to Dennis, Chase, Leila and Mwathi from the @lin_kam_art crew for assisting. Everyone was included, for all it was their very first time dancing the maypole and we had a great time.

The South Kilburn was held on Saturday 4th July 2026 in NW London, U.K 🇬🇧 This free annual community festival celebrates the rich cultural diversity of the South Kilburn community, is proudly presented by @lin_kam_art with @linett_kamala Artistic Director and supported by the @southkilburntrust and @okclubkilburn

What does it mean to be Mixed Race?

What are the questions? What is your experience? What do you want to know? What do you want to learn? What doesn’t sit right with you?

How do we navigate dual nationalities in the current climate?
