We’re excited to be putting paint onto the @graincorp Forest Hill Silos.

A big thank you to @wattylpaint for their generous support of the project, and to @cmbmqld for the mammoth job of cleaning and preparing the silos before we got started.

We’ve also got @mediastache on board, capturing the process and behind-the-scenes action as the artwork takes shape.

Thanks to @lockyervalley_regionalcouncil for bringing this project to life!

More to come!

@_danby showing Brisbane what a 200sqm baroque-style still life looks like!
We are very proud to have worked with @crjuliadixon & @brisbane.lordmayor to bring this piece to life. Celebrating its surroundings, this piece could only ever belong right here. The composition takes mint greens from Breakfast Creek/ Yowoggera Bridge, items from the collection of @newsteadhouse and a base colour that seamlessly merges into the surrounding bridge. The imagery tells the story of the history of abundance and celebration of Newstead House, drawing comparisons with the similarly plentiful cafe culture of this area. In order to address the meandering surface, that spans two main walls and down the sides of the bridge, Jarad Danby has treated the design as a body of work. The composition is designed to be walked through and experienced, rather than understood at a single glance. The work depicts a table set with locally sourced food on one side, and a tabletop left in chaos after the meal has been enjoyed, on the other. Viewers are invited to share in this meal by walking through the tunnel and stopping to enjoy each item set on the table, partaking in a feast for the eyes.
As Brisbane prepares for 2032 this piece is set as a meal of celebration, looking back towards our city’s history of abundance and forward to a bright future where our city ensures its artists get a seat at the table.

Big first week on the Breakfast Creek mural job. @sammyleaart trading some hard yakka for expert mural knowledge from @_danby and of course @mediastache capturing it all to share to you.
This mural aims to expand expectations of what “street art” in Australia can be.
Big thanks to @crjuliadixon for making this all possible!
