Great session back with Medicals RFC.

Speed - great to get some competition going and seeing boys trying not to be the slowest?!?

MAS fitness block - based off their testing earlier in pre season, lads grouped off fitness levels not a one size fits all approach.

Defensive work - small drills just to start feeding back good comms and make clear what we want as a coaching group.

AFL / NFL - some fun in the sun 🔥 and some serious seeds.

Finished off with the most competitive game of walking touch you’ll ever see (mostly thanks to me I’m not going to lie) - why walking?

I think as a coach you need to spot when lads have worked hard and don’t need anymore running / beating. Still moving the ball and having fun without over doing it 🏉🔥

Twed is running the GNR this year in memory of Marcus Colville....this is his story.....In the 33 years I’ve been involved with the Medicals Rugby Football Club , we have sadly lost far too many wonderful players.
However, the loss of one exceptional young man and fellow first-team player affected the club in a profound way. Marcus Colville tragically passed away on 13th December 2017, at just 20 years of age.
Marcus was not only a gifted rugby player but also a deeply respected teammate and friend. His kindness, spirit, and memory continue to live on within the club.

This year, I’ll be running the Great North Run in support of Whats Behind The Smile , raising both awareness and vital funds for mental health.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how much, I would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution makes a difference.
Thank you so much for your continued support.

The 2026 Draw is In.

England’s Original Sevens is back & bigger than ever. A record 29 teams across the three tournaments will compete from 10am on Saturday 20 June alongside the outstanding Tynedale Beer Festival.

With 7x Teams competing for the Stu Ridley Trophy in the Men’s Open, we’ve space for an ‘8th,’ but the shotgun format will ensure a great tournament nonetheless.

Details to entrants on emails later this week. Queries - DM here or email tynedalesevens@gmail.com

Can’t wait to get started.

Medicals is a club I’ve always had close bond with, having my dad, brother and myself all playing, and all getting around 30 secs together for the old boys… and now I get to lead them.

Genuinely buzzing 🔥🏉.

Almost a year ago I stepped away from the traditional route, and decided that the gym and rugby was my passion and I would make it work. So far not too bad.

Up the Meds.
