One of the most beautiful looks, and one I can’t stop thinking about from #Dior Spring 27, is Look 4. A jacket and skirt made from hundreds of individually cut, hand-applied silk georgette petals, layered and overlapping to create a dense, almost hydrangea-like surface.

The whole collection was built around “lightness and movement,” with air treated almost like another material alongside silk. These, lightweight petals were seen in scarves, bags and single earings creating hypnotising movement as they catch the air and move with the body.

Flowers and nature have always been a huge part of Dior and JA’s design language but I can’t help but think #JonathanAnderson was also inspired by the infamous 1949 Junon and Venus #HauteCouture gowns, both covered in layers of cascading sequin petals. Instead @jonathan.anderson stripped away the weight to create something entirely modern.

WHAT I’VE BEEN LOVING [JULY]

At this point, every post will include @szilvesztermako because I’m obsessed with everything they do. This month, it’s Daisy Edgar-Jones for British Vogue. I can’t get enough of the duality of modernity and timelessness—it scratches my brain and pulls at my heart (lethal combo). Speaking of modern timelessness, I LOVED Zendaya’s Odyssey premiere look by @matieresfecales. They’ve been pretty hot lately, what with styling Gabriette for her wedding (gorg). Their Nike Goddess Statue inspired dress and Mako’s reference to classic historical art somewhat reflect the erasure of history & art & literature happening in the US right now. It also connects to the trends that pull back on the status quo and perfectionist beauty standards like “no makeup makeup” [as seen on the red carpet]. This then coincides with my prediction from last year on WHIMSIGOTH—a whimsical subgroup of goth. Within times of political distrust, we see two sides of the same coin: whimsy in simplicity with no mascara glam, overplucked brows, bleached brows, undone hair, extra blush — whimsy in alt aka the 2026 version of punk/grunge/soft grunge/indie sleaze with a marriage of baby bangs, bleached brows, avant-garde hair. Which is why I LOVED Justine Skye for @clashmagazine by @raphsohier side by side with Jacob Batalon for @numero_netherlands shot by @benxphoto. Call me crazy, but the way he’s styled is SO simplistically whimsical.

Anywho, I saw a creator post about the importance of getting inspiration from outside of your medium, and, funny enough, it’s something I subconsciously I live by. I was recently inspired by this routine by the NY City Center—so romantic. Possibly due to The Odyssey, I’ve been obsessing over European art. I love how @meelzonart found references to classic art in @chloe’s Fall ‘26 campaign. I also loved this art from the First Lady of New York (I love her whole vibe tbh). Speaking of New York (at least aesthetically), I also loved this collection by Denim Tears to honor André Leon Talley and I specifically love this jacket. LASTLY—John Galliano as the Met Gala’s theme for 2027… 🫦 already dreaming about it.

Irish designer @jonathan.anderson will unveil his @dior Pre-Fall 2027 collection at the historic Old Library, @trinitycollegedublin on December 4. Which means, for a brief and glorious moment, he’ll be sharing a postcode with Gerard Byrne Gallery.

Byrne has long painted Paris, its iconic green chairs and water lilies that owe a small debt to Monet. The same elements that shaped Anderson’s last show for the house. Funny, what catches the creative eye.

Must be something in the Irish water. Perhaps a lily blooming?
