October 23rd. The 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and 20th anniversary of the global release of our feature documentary FREEDOM’S FURY. A love letter to people power movements worldwide, the incredible sport of water polo and the unquenchable human desire for freedom. We spent 5 years working on FREEDOM’S FURY and another year touring it around the world. Still humbled by the response. Still so appreciative of our tireless crew including my cinematographer & creative partner-in-crime @meg1ra, producer @wolokris, editor @mklrog, EPs @lucyliu, Quentin Tarantino, Andy Vajna & Amy Sommer, composer @lestronica, production manager @piroska62, our narrator & legendary Olympian @markspitzusa, plus so many others who poured themselves into our film. Still so grateful to the global water polo community for supporting us including my UM water polo coach @vizikutya21 who became the film's technical consultant. And still so honored by all the participants who trusted us with their remarkable stories of defiance, bravery and sacrifice. Tragically, it is also a film that's still more relevant than ever. With the war in Ukraine now in its 4th year, Ukrainian citizens risking everything to defend their country against Russian brutality and the United States once again sending mixed signals of support (Trump will live in infamy for cutting diesel deals with the mass murderer Putin), the echoes of 56 are everywhere. Though the Hungarian Revolution was ultimately crushed, it inspired freedom fighters around the world and was the first crack punched in the Iron Curtain. As U.S. midterms beckon, students rebel against the status quo across Europe, and brave Ukrainians die daily defending freedom… let us remember 1956 today. Let us be brave in resisting tyranny and injustice everywhere and in defending freedom, both at home and across the globe. Link in bio for ways to watch FREEDOM’S FURY and subscribe to our GRAiNEY YouTube channel for more drops & releases coming soon.

Every so often, we like to spotlight the real people who are helping grow the GRAINEY brand and September is the perfect time to re-introduce ourselves to you. Meet the sibling duo who launched GRAiNEY. Colin K. Gray is a filmmaker, EP and social impact storyteller who grew up in Ottawa (Canada), graduated from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and landed in Los Angeles (USA). Somewhere in between he’s made a batch of award winning documentaries, branded content and advocacy campaigns for HBO, Netflix, Showtime, AMC, Amazon, Habitat For Humanity, UNICEF, Vote Common Good and many more. Uniting every project he tackles is his passion for crafting powerful stories that challenge the status quo and move audiences to action. He’s also an avid drummer, water polo player and former actor who likes boring his wife and daughter with tales from all these exploits. And did we mention that he was knighted by Hungary for his film Freedom’s Fury? You can call him Sir Coco! Megan Raney Aarons is the other half of the sibling equation and is a writer, director, and creative force to be reckoned with. She is a Groundling trained performer and writer,l who started behind the camera as a DP in NYC and also an editor. She brings all this experience to her film directing and the TV shows she’s creating, having collaborated with stars like Lucy Liu, Julia Roberts, Quentin Tarantino and Julianne Hough. She’s passionate about championing new actors and diversity in her upcoming scripted features and shows. Her commercial, doc and scripted work has screened around the world and earned awards on multiple continents (Clios, Golden Lions, Anthems & more) and she, like her brother and partner in crime, is an Hungarian knight. Megan was born in Ottawa, grew up in the UK, graduated from Goldsmith College (University of London) and some say dated Justin Trudeau (in kindergarten). Two Canadians. One Global awesome team. Stories for people who give a damn.

Some interview clips are too good to keep to yourself so we had to share with you. Estate of Mind’s showrunners Jeff Biederman and Jake Horowitz sat down on CP24 to talk about estate sales, human connections and how the world of estate sales helped one man deal with his own grief and despite the grief, there is humour in all of it.  Estate of Mind is streaming now on Bell Fibe TV1 or stream on demand via Channel 1 and the Fibe TV app, link in bio.

Yesterday was the last day of Zoe being 10. Given we can’t bottle that up, yet never want to forget what her grip feels like on our hands - we immortalized it in the very spot her fingertips rest on our hands. @meg1ra did the same and so after a decade of holding hands ‘This one goes to eleven’.

Been workin! 🎥✨ Putting this reel together made me so grateful reflecting back on these incredible experiences with awesome folks over the last little bit. I love you all! Thank you to my fabulous teams @qmanagementla @qmodels @actorsartistmanagement @tabbagency for the amazing opportunities and to the creative teams behind these spots for trusting me with your fabulous work! Full time acting seemed so elusive to me when I moved back to LA many years ago but it’s what I’ve always wanted more than anything. I love to play, I love a challenge, but above all this goat 🐐 loves to work hard. I always said in my dream life if I had all my time freed up from side hustles I would dedicate every waking moment to my acting career. I promised myself when I turned 40 I would no longer be waiting tables. I had put in 20 years and I had enough. During the pandemic I sat in my grubby server apron next to the stinky dumpster at my restaurant job crying into my Brussels sprouts and said a little prayer. I JUST WANNA WORK. At the time, I was lucky to have 5 auditions a year. I had no idea how it would happen but knew I was willing to work hard. I had a callback this morning and as I was marking my spreadsheet 🤓 I realized I just surpassed my 100th audition for the year. 107th to be exact. And we’re only halfway through. I see all my pals out there working hard, hustling at survival jobs, putting in the work. I scream out loud when I see you in a commercial, in a film, in a TV show. It makes me BEYOND giddy to celebrate your successes. When you win, we all win. 🏆 I want this for everyone. It’s not easy and sometimes it feels stressful too but I will keep working and believing til I Betty White it allllll to 💯 and beyond 🌈✨ STAY FAB, FAM, STAY THE COURSE, DON’T QUIT BEFORE THE MIRACLE HAPPENS!!! 🩷uuuu

Wow!! After16 long years, democracy rises again in Hungary!! Congrats to all our Hungarian family & friends! On the 70th anniversary year of the 1956 Revolution and with shouts of “Russians Go Home!” ringing out again on the streets of Budapest, Hungarians across the country rose up yesterday to kick the corrupt, kleptocratic, proudly illiberal and Putin puppet Orban to the curb. Good riddance, Viktor, and all your illiberal supporters (Vance & Trump, you’ll reap what you sow)! I pray Peter Magyar and his insurgent grass roots campaign truly leads to a better future for all Hungarians, for a rapprochement with the EU and for more support for Ukraine. Never underestimate freedom’s fury… and Hajrá Magyarország!!

Fresh off the press! I’m excited to be working with writer / director Megan Raney Aarons and the classy and artistic Gabrielle Union. I first met Megan seven years ago at SXSW and we built a friendship. For the last four years, my team and I have been heavily involved in development with “Perdita.” Written by Matthew Hurt, “Perdita” represents everything that Ramfis Productions stands for: women, people of color and the queer community. I’m really excited to be pushing narratives like these, especially during these times. I’m looking forward to go into production soon in Canada. It’s very exciting since its my first production over there. I can’t wait to work alongside my producing partners, Colin K Gray, Jake Harowitz, Larissa Primeau, Daniel Sheldon, Chad Oliver, Amber Templemore, and Byron Beane!
