EPISODE 10 IS LIVE!

Have you ever wanted to get to know the humans behind the voices reading your audiobooks? Us too! Well, look no further than Episode Ten of The Unusual Creatures as we interview the absolutely delightful voice-over artist, @megantusing. Megan has recorded over 250 beloved audio books and also happens to be an award winner in the category. We dig into her journey from Chinatown bus to professional whisper booth and everything in between.

In her own words, Ms. Tusing is a West Virginia native now based in Brooklyn and is an actor and award-winning audiobook narrator. She developed a love of storytelling and a passion for language at a young age when first introduced to William Shakespeare, which eventually led her to pursue a career in acting. She has recorded hundreds of audiobooks from her home studio with such publishers as Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, Hachette, Harper Collins, and more. Additionally, she has numerous credits in stage, film, and television. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from James Madison University. She also is the host and creator of @joyfultoolkit podcast. When not on stage or in the booth, she can be found knitting in the company of good friends.

We loved this episode because it's as actionable as it is inspiring. Megan is gracious enough to let us dip into her own professional toolkit as she spills some tricks of her trade, as well as some of the reasons and regrets she has for not going "all in" sooner than she did. Listen and fall in love with Megan Tusing. And, keep being unusual creatures.

💛 Short and Sweet Book Review 💛 Featuring the #friends frame!

Book Title: The Seven Day Switch by @kelly.harms

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I absolutely ADORED this book. I actually listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a fabulous job! @arielledelisle @megantusing

Do you remember the tv show Wife Swap on ABC? This is a story of a modern day wife swap! Two neighboring moms each judge the other's lifestyle/parenting until one day, they drank a little too much and the next day wake up in each other's bodies! I laughed so much during this. I'm not a mom but I understand moms so much better after this, all you moms out there are freaking rock stars!!!! Read this if you're in for a wild and endearing tale of how two women start to appreciate each other and find themselves again as mothers, wives and women.

Have you read this? Thoughts? Bonus the ebook and audiobook are available on kindle unlimited!!!

I'm a huge fan of @kristywharvey. After reading four of her books and loving each and every one of them, I am already looking forward to reading her backlist books.

I listened to The Wedding Veil’s audiobook and it was a beautiful story that spans over decades written in multiple POVs and dual timelines, which was written superbly in typical Harvey style and a wonderful blend of historical and contemporary women’s fiction.

I loved being teleported back in time to a time where the economy was booming and flapper girls were the norm. Although I personally never heard of the Biltmore/Vanderbilt legacy, I loved that Harvey used historical figures and happenings within the story. The author also clarifies what was fact and fiction within the story if readers are ever wondering.

I didn’t see the ending coming where the mystery of the veil is revealed and the story kept me hooked throughout the entire time.

The character development for Julia whose origins are her being comfortable with what she knows, to taking risks and going outside of her comfort zone where she discovers that there’s so much more to life by becoming more independent. Also, I love stories with family dynamics and drama and it plays a big role.

Additionally, narrators Shannon McManus, @janet_metzger_actor, @bexnyc and @megantusing were all amazing and having the different narrators really helped differentiate all the characters.

The Wedding Veil releases today!

Thank you @uplitreads and @gallerybooks for the arc and gifted copy. And thank you @simon.audio for the alc. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
