I’ve always wanted to be great at everything. There, I said it.
Not good. Great. The kind of great that makes a room feel different after I’ve left it.

Some days it feels like hunger. Other days it feels like a haunting. I hoard books I haven’t read, films I haven’t watched, languages I can’t speak yet, and each one looks at me like a door I’m too slow to open.

Plath called it the fig tree. All those lives hanging there, ripe, and she sat underneath watching them rot because choosing one meant losing the rest. I know that tree. I’ve been sitting under it my whole life and calling it research.

Here’s the thin line nobody mentions, the fire that makes me create is the same one that tells me it’s never enough. Ambition and anxiety share a bloodstream. You can’t cut one out without bleeding the other.

And maybe wanting to be remembered isn’t vanity. Maybe it’s just the most human way of saying “I was here, please don’t let it go quiet.”

But I’m slowly learning something. The version of me I keep running toward, the one who knows everything and fears nothing, doesn’t exist. I stitched her together from other people’s best moments. She isn’t ahead of me. She isn’t anywhere.
What exists is me: tired, curious, unfinished, still showing up with ink on my hands.

So I’m keeping the hunger. I’m just done letting it bully me.
Maybe I was never meant to be everything. Maybe I’m meant to be fully here, one fig at a time, and let the rest of the tree leak into whatever I make.

Being alive was always enough of a beginning. And there I said it again, trying to accept facts. I think that’s a first. And that is learning too? Whatever anyways..
