This weekend has been truly thrilling and a love fest for the Cabaret art form. We started Thursday night with a Cabaret Lab with Corinna and Shane, setting the tone for an interactive, collaborative, and fun experience! Friday night included a workshop with the incredible Meg Flather entitled “finding your story“ and anybody who was in that room that night felt Meg’s magic as she helped our students cultivate the story they wanted to tell. Saturday involved three seminars! The First found us with three separate fantastic Music Directors; Darnell White, John DiPinto, and of course, our Shane , in a sort of Round Robin style seminar helping our students learn how to work collaboratively with an MD and communicate what you’re looking for in the music. This was followed by an inspiring, informative, funny, and caring talkback seminar with four pillars of the cabaret world: Frank Dain, Marieann Meringolo, Karen Mack, and Lisa Viggiano! Participants then met with Don’t Tell Mama Tech Director Adam DeCarlo who helped all learn how to communicate with your tech director, the mechanics of the microphone, and useful tips for all things tech in Cabaret. Today we rehearse and apply what we learned over the past 3 days and perform in a showcase tonight at 7 PM at the Watchung Presbyterian Church (home of NiCori Studios & Productions)! Join us! It has been truly wonderful, and we are grateful to all who shared their time and talents with our students! Life is a Cabaret!

Still trying to process Monday night. 💜 My 50th birthday. My album release. A SOLD OUT room at Don’t Tell Mama for Fifty Ways to Leave Your Forties. People turned away at the door (!!), wonderful new people wandering in because they were curious, and so much love packed into one room. Launching What You Don’t See this way was everything I hoped for and more. And walking into the room in my ridiculous blue sequined dress hearing people cheer for me, I felt exactly where I was supposed to be. Thank you Jeff Harnar, Jon Weber, Ritt Henn, David Silliman, Lynda DeFuria, Evelyn Sullivan, Trinity Alleyne, Matt Baker, Alison Nusbaum, Randy Cohen Lester, Adrian, Sidney Myer, Tanya Moberly, my husband, and everyone who helped create this album creatively, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. So grateful I got to share my album dedication to Phyllis Kinsler & Danny Bacher and dedicate the show to Sally Darling. My heart is very, very full. 💜 #WhatYouDontSee #FiftyWaysToLeaveYourForties #Cabaret #AlbumRelease #SingerSongwriter

Friends! So very excited about the fantastic Cabaret Artists who have agreed to be part of our first Cabaret Seminar June 25-28! The NiCori Cabaret Seminar is an immersive four-day performance intensive designed for adult performers (ages 18+) looking to develop their voice, storytelling, and stage presence in a cabaret setting. Through a series of hands-on sessions, participants explore key elements of cabaret performance, including finding their personal story, working with a music director, mastering microphone technique, and understanding the art of engaging an audience. The seminar combines practical training with collaborative rehearsal, culminating in a final showcase where participants have the opportunity to perform. With guidance from industry professionals, this program offers a supportive and dynamic environment to refine skills, build confidence, and bring authentic, compelling performances to life. Registration is open now at NiCoriStudios.com. This seminar is for beginner and advanced cabaret performers alike! There is always something to learn. It’s going to be a very fun and educational 4 days! You can choose to do all 7 sessions, choose 4 of the 7, or choose à la carte.
