🌟CC Check in🌟 Walker is a former seeing eye pup, and a big brother to current member Scout! Career-changes and retired guide dogs can be a big help when training younger members. They can be great models of proper TSE behavior and can even be invited to meetings as “distraction” dogs. Walker has been helping his raiser continue to train new puppies like Scout, and even donates blood regularly to help save other dogs. So far, he’s donated enough to save 45 dogs in need!! We think he’s a very handsome hero 💚💚 PC 📸: @megsterl13 PD 1: German Shepherds Scout and Walker sit next to each other on a hiking trail. They are surrounded by beautiful golden foliage. PD 2: Walker sits on a light blue blanket in a vet’s office. Behind him is a white board announcing his 15th donation, and the total number of lives he’s saved.

Did you know that a Seeing Eye puppy’s training includes cat exposure? Many raiser families have cat siblings that can help teach puppies important boundaries 🐈 Other puppies may learn from “distraction” cats that visit the Seeing Eye campus and interact with puppies in a safe, controlled environment! The goal is for pups to resist the urge to play or become distracted by even the friendliest felines 🐱🐶 PC 📸: @megsterl13 PD 1: On top of a red pattered rug, a small tigered cat curls into a C-shape while on her back. Octavia, a Golden Retriever, lays her head on the ground a few inches away from the cat, practicing the “rest” command. PD 2: Scout, a large German Shepherd, is seen from the side laying next to his dark grey cat sibling. They are sharing a fuzzy grey blanket on top of a tan dog bed. PD 3: The camera is above Scout and his cat sibling. The pair is snuggling together, looking comfortable.

How it started ➡️ how it’s going In addition to birthdays, many club members celebrate “gotcha days” or the day they received their puppy in training! It’s a great day to reminisce and feel proud for all the work, practice, and growing 💚🦮 Happy gotcha day to our friend Scout, who still hasn’t learned how big he truly is 😂 PC 📸: @megsterl13 PD 1: A close-up of German Shepherd Scout as a puppy. He is laying on his back with his mouth open, holding a chew toy. PD 2: Scout sits the right of his raiser. He looks to be around eight weeks old. On the left of his raiser is his CC German Shepherd brother. PD 3: Scout and his CC brother sit on either side of their raiser. She has her arms around both of them and is wearing hiking gear while the dogs don red plaid bandanas. The background is a beautiful hiking scene with mountains and a lake.
