Wrapping up the darkest and most difficult year of my life. I lost my dearest father, lived through war, and had to pull myself together so I wouldn’t lose my job and the opportunities I had waited for since immigrating. Not to mention budget cuts and other chaos along the way.
But now, at the end of this year, I don’t want to dwell on the dark times. I want to focus on what helped me stay strong and keep going: the people around me. Some of you I can tag, and some I can’t, but you know how dear you are to me.
Thank you for the love and support that helped me not only stay on track, but also for believing in me as an artist. You made me feel that my work matters and that it makes a difference if I keep working instead of curling up into a ball all day. Even if that isn’t true, you made me feel it was, and that’s what matters.
I understand my father’s words more than ever now: your friends are your investments in life. Thank you.

This project was very special to me. I got to invite my audience to my world. I brought my closest friends on stage to play with me. I opened a suitcase of my culture to show what world I’ve come from, a world that doesn’t look like what you see on the news.
I really hope we can perform it again soon. Because these are the times… these are the times… these are the times.
