This week @texasmonthly published our first print installment of The Regulars, a column I’ve been manifesting since childhood. In this series I’m exploring traditions and communities, loosely defined. I started with a megachurch’s mega Christmas pageant, then checked in on the NBA’s oldest fan section (Baseline Bums 4 ever), and in this issue I spoke with the young guns of Bandera, who perform gunfights on Saturdays behind the visitor center, about life and death.

Feeling extremely grateful to be featured in @texasmonthly on building the Dinner With Strangers Community in Houston. I started this community to try and build connections through food and I’m so happy that it picked up traction in 2024.

As we go into the new year, I’m excited to announce some changes in our community. Not only will we be in Houston, but I will be hosting dinners in San Diego, California, my hometown, and to various cities across the United States. In order to keep the menu fresh and innovative, I will be having some of my amazing Chef friends across the country host these experiences as well. I would like to give other chefs a chance to highlight the amazing food they make and to bring in the diversity in the community not only in the people that dine with us but the food as well.

Thank you to everyone who has supported liked shared any of our post. Community building has proven to be more important than ever. And I’m so excited to have you guys be a part of this journey.
