I read a lot of really great books in January!!! Here they all are :-) Have you read any of these? What did you think? Or, if you haven’t, are any of them on your TBR? Please chat books with me, it is my favorite thing to do!!!! (Photos in the background of the audiobooks here aren’t related to the stories, but do reflect some of the things I did or saw while I was in the middle of them!)

COLLABORATIVE WORK This is Edie Meidav. She's a fantastic writer and an even better person. We've stayed in touch after our residency at the Bellagio Center in Italy. Edie and I talked about doing collaborative work exactly one year ago and I've been apologizing to her since then 😅 Edie sent a manuscript of micro narratives she's been working on and I've been failing at finding the right aesthetic to match her stories. This evening, we had a very productive conversation. Edie has a way of bringing things into perspective. I think I finally know how to approach the stories she shared. Eternally grateful for Edie's patience and kindness 🙏

“Predisastered Love Paradise,” Sketchbook Artist Book, 2022. ✏️ This sketchbook was bound out of a novel draft by the great Edie Meidav, @meidav , whom I had the pleasure to meet at a Hambidge Center residency Summer 2022. She was working on her novel, and was tossing the printed draft as we all packed up to leave the residency, but then reached out and asked if I could reuse the paper. I turned it into this very delicate but fun sketchbook!

Immersed in green—Autumn 2024 🌿   Some see the world through rose-colored glasses, but we (like Monet) prefer green.   Our latest issue investigates an endangered color: Sarah Smarsh fights against a green prairie invasion, Ross Gay invites us into thankful relationship with his plants, Katrina Vandenberg reflects on water lilies, K-Ming Chang discovers a fictional jungle, Gregory Maguire celebrates green skin, and Margaret Atwood tells us something good. Cover art by Oliver Jeffers.   Get your copy at orionmagazine.org or on a newsstand near you.
