No, this is not a scene from an audition for a low budget Tollywood movie!
This is the 'sometimes not-so-subtle' art of using props on stage to keep the audience hooked to every word that comes out of your mouth! For a very long time I was averse to using any props on stage for fear of embarrassing myself. But then one fine day, it struck me- when I'm on stage, I'm a performer! Performers use costumes and props to make the performance memorable! When a clown paints his face and puts on a red nose, he embraces whole heartedly the character he signed up to play! Public speaking is a performance! It's not just the words, its the entire experience that you want the audience to remember. People might forget what you said, but they'll never forget how you made them feel! So if it means that clowning around occasionally on stage will make the audience laugh and remember what a great time they had when I was on stage, then so be it! In this case, I didnt need to paint my face, that soul patch on my chin was au naturel!
