So much fun with the @melbournefrontrunners cheering on Melbourne Frontrunner members running the full and half marathon today. And cheering on all the runners with words of encouragement, providing water, snakes for a burst of energy, dancing high fives right through from 8am till noon!

Big thanks to all the Melbourne Marathon runners who smashed that gold dot on my sign. So glad to have the experience of cheering you on. To do it alongside the @melbournefrontrunners cheer squad and @gameon_joy949 was the icing on the cake. Rest up everyone!

The Turkish Government has launched a major crackdown on LGBTQ+ people and organisations.

Police raids have led to more than 160 arrests, while a court order has blocked LGBTQ+ organisations from accessing their social media accounts and websites. Türkiye’s Financial Crimes Investigation Board is also investigating international funding to LGBTQ+ organisations.

Türkiye’s Justice Minister said the operation was intended to “protect our children, the institution of the family and social order”.

The crackdown follows years of repression and persecution of LGBTQ+ people in Türkiye, including repeated public statements by President Erdoğan describing LGBTQ+ people as “perverts” and a “plague”.

We stand with LGBTQ+ people in Türkiye and with the organisations defending their rights, freedom and safety.
