“Perhaps that is why we love life so much, Anjin-san. You see, we have to. Death is part of our air and sea and earth. You should know, Anjin-san, in this Land of Tears, death is our heritage.”

-Mariko, “Shōgun”

As soon as @foliosociety announced they would give this story the Folio treatment, I was instantly ready to click that order button! Tuesday was the day of launch, I was ready to go, and here it is! It doesn’t disappoint…this is a meaty set of books. The story was so large that it had to be divided in two parts! The art is gorgeous of course, and the presentation lets the reader know that they are embarking on an epic journey! What a set!

Recording my Andrew Weatherall tribute show for @lwstd.fm last year inspired me to commission some new artwork in celebration of the great man himself.

Working with the amazing @melbs74 we set out to create a piece that celebrates some (not all as that would be impossible) of the Guv’s many magical musical adventures from over the years. From some of his amazing productions and musical collaborations as well as some references to some of my own personal memories from seeing him play over the years.

I always love the way in which Chris interprets the artwork briefs I send to him. The approach he took here was to create a montage of ripped paper / flyers / posters on walls with each segment featuring a different element of some of Andrew’s musical endeavours.

A really nice blend of graphic design and illustration which creates a beautiful end result.
