my people ♥️ there’s a running joke with some of my friends that they can’t keep track of me in DC because i know everyone i’ve always laughed and said that wasn’t true, but as i was putting this post together, i realized i might be wrong the thing is, the people are not only why i do this work but why i love this work these trips are so busy but they fill me up and restore me in a way that’s so rare i’m missing so many people in these photos too but they are in every memory of last week i can’t wait to see and hug you all again but until then, keep being the incredible humans you are

Expanded more over on my Substack.. but overall incredibly grateful for Pennsylvania Senators @davemccormickpa & @senfettermanpa for accepting meetings with American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Team PA.. & thankful for @wpxi for giving me a lil segment on our local news. Meeting with Cole in my congressman @greschenthaler’s office is becoming a regular occurrence. I meet with him in March with @curemelanoma and then again in September with @acscan, and we’ve done this each year since he started being staff.. so it was nice to see him again and to be able to discuss the importance of funding cancer research and prevention programs. He is my voice to my congressman. So, I can advocate for my rural community. Read more at; brittanny.substack.com

More peace. More hope. More love. More light. We don’t just want it. We need it. #LightsOfHope was so emotional after a long #CancerLobbyDay on Capitol Hill speaking to lawmakers about how cancer impacts my life every single day. I actually cried in @senfettermanpa ‘s office today, during our meeting, while explaining the Clinical Trial Modernization Act.. and why it would be so important for him to cosponsor it.. I had to explain my situation about how I live in a small town where we don’t have access to large health care institutions. When I was undergoing treatment for stage III melanoma, the distance was a barrier to getting my care… and being a person who has faced cancer first hand, I understand the reality of having to weigh the risk vs reward when it comes to your life, child care, your ability to work, transportation, housing, and the money that isn’t in your bank account to spare. And this will help - not only cancer patients. But patients - get access to clinical trials because it will get them funds. Those funds will NOT count as taxable income. Those are funds that they can actually use to have access to a clinical trial that otherwise would be a barrier to them. And that’s important. To have that little bit of financial freedom is something that will bring anyone in that position to tears because it is the literal definition of HOPE. I hope my other senator @davemccormickpa sees this and agrees, as well as my local congressman @greschenthaler, as these things are so important for southwestern Pennsylvanians, who are so rural and have hardly any access to healthcare that is strong and reliable and most importantly - nearby. #canceradvocacy #acscan #melanomasurvivor

I love BEING ALIVE & these photos prove exactly THAT but I literally hate how hardship seems to somehow always target the people that love life the most & live life to the fullest .. You see most difficult stories somehow find the people who deserve softness & gentle delight but they create the light .. bc it was never handed to them. ITS WITHIN THEM… It’s always the people who love life with their whole entire chest who have the most beautiful conscious perspectives within themselves... they became that way BECAUSE they’ve carried the heaviest burdens for a long time. The hardest chapters have landed on their shoulders yet somehow, they still choose joy & freedom even when joy and freedom never chose them back. I like to call it - becoming radiant thru lives challenges. Owning self awareness & positivity like that .. it’s a super power Living your dream life is opening a door you’re not prepared for and learning the room as you go.. June has been a reminder of exactly that.
