✨Author Wrapped✨

As we round out the first full week of the New Year, I wanted to reflect back on 2025. A lot of truly amazing stuff happened, like being able to travel to writers retreats in Australia and Mendocino, and meeting so many supportive, creative + talented people.

i’m sure there are many details that I missed, but this is a pretty good recap of the adventures in publishing I had in 2025 (those I can share, anyway 😉).

Much more is on the horizon!

Thank you to anyone who has given me and my words a chance. What an honor it has been to attend signings, speak on panels, be a part of fundraisers + giveaways, and be stocked in bookstores.

I’m looking forward to 2026 + leaning unapologetically into all of the things that bring me joy! Here’s to storytelling, to taking chances, and to building community.

I am going into 2026 cancer free, feeling truly blessed in so many areas of my life. I have the love of my husband, a beautiful life with our three cats, and the ability to keep telling my stories.

I cannot wait to see what 2026 brings! Stick around to find out what I have planned …

QOTD: What is one thing you are looking forward to in 2026?

Editor Appreciation!!

My editor, @melissasmithediting, is the BEST for so many reasons, and this post is to show her some love and highlight things she’s taught me (though I’m likely to forget before the next manuscript 😅)

Melissa is honest, dependable, always professional but has a sense of humor, which I appreciate. She responds to every message and email, and sticks to her timeline, honoring all deadlines (even when I have issues and need to move mine 😅) She keeps me on my toes with her feedback and her encouragement means so much. She honors all my requests, and keeps my characters and all their quirks and mannerisms in mind while editing, which is tough because sometimes I forget 😂

Thank you for all you do, Melissa. And for being awesome! 🤩 ♥️

Working with Melissa was a terrific experience! Her feedback was so constructive! I couldn’t think of a better partnership!!
She was honest and at the same time kind. She pointed out the strongest points of my WIP and where I should put some extra effort. I made so many changes after her insights!
I recommend her to everyone who is about to publish! For me, her work was essential and I most definitely will repeat the experience the next book!

Thank you so much! @melissasmithediting

As an indie author, I self-edit so much I make myself cross-eyed 🤪 I appreciate my human editor so much, and have so much respect for her! (@melissasmithediting you’re the best!!♥️) She points out every little thing I miss (dang commas)

The editing process can be incredibly tedious at times, but the feeling of accomplishment knowing I’m making my story better (I hope!!) is so fulfilling.

Fellow authors and writers, do you enjoy editing, or do you loathe it?
