Fifteen years 🖤 It’s my Dømme bday today. What started as curiosity became a calling and somewhere along the way, it became a life I built entirely on my own terms.

This work has taught me more about power, human nature, discipline, and self-possession than I could have ever imagined. It has challenged me, shaped me, and ultimately refined me.

There have been moments of intensity, moments of doubt, moments of transformation, and through it all, I remained. To have sustained a career in this space for 15 years is something I don’t take lightly. It is commitment to an unwavering sense of self.

To those who have crossed paths with me, clients, peers, collaborators, and those quietly observing, thank you for being part of this journey in whatever way you have.

“I’d cut my hair short, but I’m afraid it won’t suit me; I probably have a weird skull shape.” I’ve heard this phrase from girls thousands of times. For many, buzzing the head with clippers is a life reset ritual—a ritual of boldly declaring yourself and your independence. I could list the meanings girls find in short hair for a long time because I’ve been working with this for over two decades. But besides the desire, there is also fear. And the fears are standard: it won't suit me, I won't be accepted, I won't be able to grow it out. Some never manage to step over these fears. For others, I provide the way.

I came up with this experiment specifically to help those who can’t decide and are afraid it won't grow back. We invited two girls and buzzed them bald specifically to show the stages of returning to long hair. I’ve already posted the first model; you can find her in my recent posts. Today I’m sharing the second one.

As you can see, the girl looked elegant at every stage, and it's not about the skull shape—it’s about the hair design. If you just grow it out without cutting, the hair will grow faster, but it will quickly take the shape of a potato—somewhat round, but shapeless. Therefore, the main recipe for growing out is to get cut by a master who knows how to work with short hair. A person who does great balayage and cuts layers won't handle this task. Short hair is about the specifics of proportions; it's head sculpting, the ability to build and redistribute hair volumes, and it is radically different from working with long hair. 0.5 inches of hair in a specific zone can change a person beyond recognition—it can disfigure them or add +100 to their attractiveness. In short, it’s a fascinating adventure available to the brave, and it's quite safe.

What I remember specifically about this girl: after we cut her hair and she left, a bartender from the bar next door called me. He was on his way to work and ran into my model. On the phone, he spent a long time admiring her beauty and praised me for the buzz cut. Even for me, that was unexpected. That’s the story.

If you’ve read this far—share your experience. Ever wanted to shave your head? Scared?
