Amazing to attend @msfelitaharris and @awetgw's conversation with Robyn Mowatt on turning a creative vision into a business, and to leave with a signed copy of The Designer's Path.

The try-on: a stunning @awetnyc leather mini, made to order in your choice of Pantone shade (trying it on so a friend can see the movement). Yes, really. 🤯

My fit in shades of brown: anchored by a @melkenyc dress, paired with @lagencefashion leopard print motorcycle jacket, @loefflerrandall boots and a @proenzaschouler bag.

Team brown or team fringe - 1 or 2?

where i go in nyc when i need inspiration: corners of nyc that i love for stimulating curiosity, creativity, & conversations. (should i do a part 2?)

#diaryofacreative #creativedirector #bestofnyc #gallery #vintage

the interiors of this gilded age mansion-turned-museum alone are worth the visit, especially in the atrium where you can muse by the fountain. the art spans renaissance through early 20th century- a beautiful time period escape.

vintage design, in general, always fuels creativity for me. soho may hold the title for best designer vintage, but brooklyn is my favorite place for more niche discoveries. stella dallas living is one of my absolute favorites, with 2 store fronts side by side. one side is has the most divine collection of lace, crochet, dresses, textiles, & accessories from the 1800's, onward. next door is 10ft single, a larger space of both mens' & women's' vintage, largely from 60's-y2k (& a huge selection of leather jackets).

never underestimate the power of a good wall & greenery to undo a creative block. i personally am more of an outdoors person than the city naturally elicits, so my walks in the park are also key for my sanity & grounding.

studio 94 always has some of my favorite curations of modern furniture, art, & sculpture. the range is always deliciously conceptual, textural, & unusual- my favorite trifecta. think rick owen's' furniture to surrealist pottery & experiential textile installations that leave you rethinking the applications of form and material in the very best way.

the list of bars with interiors that transport you into another time or an escape from the city is a long one. but the visual language of the bar is definitely a favorite, with greenery hanging above the bar & a floor-to-ceiling book shelf of gorgeous pottery & coverless books in the lounge area, matching aesthetics with a space that calms the nervous system. the people bring you back to the city, in a good way, with some of the most opulent more-is-more guests that makes for great people watching.

if you're living in nyc & not regularly striking up conversations with strangers, why are you even here? i love diving into deep conversations with

is water not the ultimate teacher?

the water in me becomes the water in the soil, which becomes the water in the clouds, which becomes the water in the rivers, which becomes the water in the soil, which becomes the water in you.

water shows us the ultimate reality— separation is an illusion. there are no barriers, no borders, and no defined lines between you and me. the world does not begin where your skin ends. life is but a cycle of connection with no fixed endings or beginnings

my best friend @laiyonelth and i did this shoot on my 29th birthday on the summer solstice this year. he asked me what i wanted to do for my birthday and i told him all i wanted was to be outside and to be creative with my phone far far away from me. being around laiyo is what it would be like if i had an identical twin and we shared the same odd thoughts and ideas 24/7. everything we do comes from our hearts. i’ll never forget this day <3
